OK, so LR "E" 10 ply BFG ATs are "supposed" to be for heavier duty trucks. However, for those with 18" wheels, the only thing available in the BFG AT is a LR "E" tire. For you guys with 18" rims running BFG ATs, do you notice a harsher ride vice a LR "C" tire? LR "C" is all we really need on our Tacomas.

Yes, you will have a 'harsher' or 'more truck like' ride with the stiffer 'E' rated tires. But most people don't mind it too much, so it is a matter of personal opinion. Also they will weigh a little more, so you can expect your mpg to go down slightly.

Bout what I figured. Not sure if it's worth the hassle to find an 18" wheel I like, then pay $225/tire. :-(

IMO...18s are too much for this truck, more people are running 17s ;)

E load range is overkill for the Tacoma i would have to say. 10 Ply tire is gonna be very stiff. Paying way more for them too when you won't be needing it.

What about a 'D' rated tire?

Same for D and E rated, overkill for the truck and both will be considerably 'stiffer' than the stockers, which are P-passenger rated.

had BFGs (forget which model) but LR "E" on a 98 4Runner i had and yes..ride is very harsh, should have gone w/LR C.

Just because it is a LRE you don't have to put 80 psi in it. You can keep them around 40/50 front back if you tow some and if you tow a lot bump the rears up. It's a lot better for towing heavy loads, it won't sway. But I agree that that is too much tire for that.
