Tire help on 07 Sport 4x4

Hello everyone. I am about to buy new tires for my factory 07 sport and was wondering if anyone could help with this. I would like to buy a bigger all terrain tire and don't know how big is too big for a stock truck. I have a friend with a first gen. tacoma with nice tires on his truck but they rub on wide turns. I would like to find the best fit for my situation. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

 

265/70/17 is the biggest on a stock Sport truck

Yup, that's what I have...couldn't afford new rims, so I have 265/70/17 BFG T/A KO on my stock sport rims. No rubbing, great tires (except I have a gravel driveway and rocks get stuck in them all the time and then fly out and hit my truck) and they haven't popped yet from rambling through the lava or kiawe.....yet...

I just put some 255/75/17's (32" by 10") bfg mud terrains on my stock tacoma and there is no rubbing at all. Here are some pictures.

 

Would that size tire fit with factory rims though.

 

Yes as long as you have the 17" wheels and not the 16" wheels. And i got a great deal on these tires. $450 shipped to my door.

 

I put Bridgestone Revo 265/70/17 on my stock sport rims. The speedometer is now more accurate according to my gps after going up a size. Here's what they look like (before I had the rear spring TSB):

 

I too have 265/70/17 on my TRD Sport SB.

JTDTacoma, How's the ride with the TSB leaf springs? Handling change?

 

I was always hesitant about getting the TSB done for the springs. Don't haul much and didn't want to change a good thing. I thought the truck rode just fine. But one night my friend and I (and an empty bed) went through an intersection that had a dip and it bottomed out HARD. Not cool.

Wanted to get the TSB done before my warranty ended and just decided what the heck. The ride improved pretty dramatically. I was afraid it would become too stiff with the 4 leaf pack but was pleasantly surprised at how much more solid the truck felt after the install. It isn't too stiff at all with an empty bed. I'd say the handling improved a little too, but not as noticeable an improvement as the ride. Of all the things I've done for my truck, this has to be the my favorite (probably a tie with swapping out the stock tires for Revos). Except this didn't cost me anything except a day without my truck. The rear raised exactly one inch. After living with the truck for a year and a half with the 3 leaf springs and a month or so with 4 it is clear to me that this is how Tacomas should leave the factory. I cannot recommend it enough.
