Tire upsize on stock rim

Hello all. Brand new to the forum. I just picked up a new 07 doublecab TRD sport LB 4x4 last night. I am dying to get rid of the smaller stock Sport tires. They are good tires but don't match the size/length of the truck too well. They are bridgestone 265-65-17.

I am thinking of adding a 2" level kit up front. What size tire that will fit on the stock 17" rim? 275? 285?

If anyone has upgraded tires on the stock 17" rims, I would love to see the pics. Any advice would be great.

 

You might be able to fit the 275's but I doubt the 285's would fit without some trimming. Those tires will fit the wheel, but you may have fitment issues with the truck. You may also want to try 265/75R-17. These are basically 32 inch tires. 275/65R-17 are also 32 inch but are a bit wider.

 

Good advice. It is hard to locate a 265 75 17, but there are plenty of 265 70 17's out there. I have goodyear wrangler AT/S's on my 05 Tahoe Z71, and they have served me pretty well (50k miles and still plenty of tread).

After calling nearly every tire store in the area, I found that walmart sells this size in the AT/s for $142 per tire. Rather than give my money to walmart, a local Goodyear dealer said he would beat the price, at $137 per tire. I guess there is a strike and quantities are limited on those tires right now too.

So, I am headed down there in about 15 min to get them put on. I will try them out without the level kit to see if I will want to use it or not. Does anyone else out there run those size tires at stock height?

The stock bridgestone h/t is 30.6" and the Wrangler is 31.7".

Dealers were offering like 25-40 per tire as trade (with 170 miles on them). I posted the bridgestones on craigslist for $400 and have had a few calls already, so we'll see what happens.

 

I just bought my 07 DC TRD 4x4 and put a 3" pro comp spacer lift with AALs on the back. My truck came with 17" eagle alloys w/ 265/70r/17 Goodyear Wrangler MTR's (AWESOME TIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) from the dealer before I lifted it. However now that it is lifted, I want something alittle bigger on the truck. I was thinking of moving to a 285/70/17 or 295/70/17 (33") which will easily fit now that it is lifted.
