A buddy of mine has BFG A/T's for sale, but insists they are marked as 285/12.50R17. I'm trying to compare them to my stock "Sport" tires 265/65R17, but his info just doesn't make sense.
Am I missing something or is he remembering it wrong?

I'm trying to find out if they will fit my tacoma and what impact they will have.

LOL that's just tread sitting on rims. I wouldn't mind seeing that actually, just for a laugh of course.

    oil change...
doesnt sound right to me. the first number is the width X height of sidewall X rim size.

he is trying to combine two different units of measurement...

I know that's what it is supposed to be (ratio of the width of tire), but I also know there is another way of making tire size notations. I wondered if that's maybe what he is remembering.
Anyway, I'll have a look at the tires tomorrow (hopefully), so I can make a note of the actual tire size and check if they will fit my Taco
