    Grettings from Texas,

Ok, Here is the deal. I have a 2009 2wd Prerunner double cab ( TRD Off road package with the 16'' wheel/tires). I plan on upgrading to 17'' wheels and tires. I do not have or plan on getting a lift or level kit.

I am wanting to go with KMC XD Addict wheels ( matte black) in 17x9, 6x5.5, -12 offset, 4.53 backspace. I also plan on getting 265/70/17 tires, havent decided on what brand yet.

My question to all the Guru's out there, going from my old 16'' to this 17'' wheel and tire combo, will this work?

    Thanks everyone

    AB

you will have no problem making the size switch just make sure you calculate what size tire to get since you plan on not lifting so theres not insane amounts of rubbing use this http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/wheels-tires/12697-tire-size-tool.html this will help you figure out how much of a difference a larger tire or wheel etc. will be but i do know the newer sport tacomas come with 17's instead of 16's so youll be fine

Yes, they'll work. I just did that. I went from 16" to 17" wheels. Mine was a 4.5 backspacing with -10 offset. I have Goodyear Duratracs 265/70/17 and they rub. I believe (and was told) the reason why they're rubbing is because of the after wheel. The backspacing and the negative offset pushes the tire out past the fender a little and I guess that's why it's rubbing against the mudflaps. I removed my mudflaps and now it rubs less. I guess the next thing to do is to get either bilsteins or some other type of lift to raise it at least an inch to two.

    Ok,

I just got off the phone with NTB in reference with the wheels and tires. The 17x9 Addicts that are listed on the website that will fit my truck are listed as 17x9, 6x5.5 with a +18 mm offset. They dont list a backspace spec. With the 265/70/17 tire, is this going to rub at all with no lift????? Sorry to keep askin. Thanks

I think all companies/vendors will say that you would need a positive offset with those wheels. The reason is because of what I tried to explain....the tires will be sticking out if you went with a -12 offset. I think NTB would want you to buy the XD Addicts with a +18 offset so that the tires will not be sticking out pass the fenders.

You now have the option of choosing the -12 or +18.

Do you want the tires to stick out past the fender about maybe an inch or do you want to make sure you don't stick out at all?

My wheels is 17x9 with 4.5 backspacing -10 offset ( with 265/70/17 Goodyear Duratracs). My tires rub a little because of the negative offset. NTB wants to make sure you don't rub so they're telling you to get a positive offset.

The lightbulb just came on !

Thanks for the explanation. I dont really want to have my tires/wheels extending or rubbing, so what you have told me and I understand now is that I am good to go.

I appriciate your time to respond.

I don't know if you plan on buying online but the cheapest place that I found for XD Monsters (this was what I wanted at first) was at http://www.rimzoneonline.com/

The XD Addicts would come out to a little under $600 including shipping. Maybe you can call them for a tire & wheel package type of deal.

    hey motorjock.
did you go with 17"addicts with -12offset or 18 offset? Im thinking of doing the same set up. 17" addicts -12 offset and 4.5 backspacing on a 265/70/17. not planning on getting aa lift either.
