Newbie here. Currently in the market for a truck and stumbled upon a used 2006 Red X-Runner w/86,000 miles for $16,599. Test drove it and love the 6-Speed tranny and power on this thing. My main reason for getting a truck is to haul around my Harley Street Glide Special which weights around 810lbs. Can anyone weight in on how this truck handles under load? I was also looking at a 2005 Crew Cab V6 4x4 w/6 Speed tranny for $21,000. Not sure which one will handle load better etc. Thanks for any insight you guys can provide.

The stock leaf springs are crap. Either one will sag under 800 lbs. So I'd say pick whichever one you like better and plan to upgrade the leafs either way and you'll be set.

Can't believe you are asking, x-runner any day of the week, most x-runner owners bought there truck for that reason. Load issues can be resolved with a pair of QA1's or helper bags. Haul a$$ and look good doing it! 4x4 is only if you plan on going off pavement.

Thanks for the info. I'll do some research on the QA1's and Helper bags. Thanks for the links too, although many of those guys had bikes that were in the 350lbs - 500lbs range. I did see one with two sport bikes so I guess that should have brought it close to 800lbs or so total.

There is one with 3 bikes in the back with a 2" drop that is using QA1's. The Xrunner leafs are stiffer than other model tacomas

I've been looking at the helper bags online. Seems legit as hell. I don't plan on towing much, just need to be able to haul my Harley from time to time. Looks like that X-Runner might be in the driveway before the week is out.

Just found another Red 06 X-Runner. This one only has 45,000 miles vice 86,000. Price difference is $1,900 and a two hour drive. Thoughts.....

I carry about 600-700 lbs of tools and supplies in my X every day.

Has not had any problem with it.

Thanks Richie Rich. I'm beginning to realize that I might be a bit too paranoid about how much this truck can handle. Just wanted to make sure I buy enough truck to get the job done without breaking anything.

    No problem.

Enjoy the X. Get used to answering questions about it, mine has proven to be quite the attention getter. They are kind of a rarity and a lot of fun to drive for a pickup truck.
