Does the air filter get wet easily in heavy rain, or after splashing through deep water? and if it does is there any performance issues?

No. I have drivin it in pretty good rain, and have pretty much sprayed the filter directly when washing the grill. There are no performance issues whatsoever. URD says just not to submerge it and everything will be fine. Its an excellent CAI and even without the MAF Cal the performance gains are fantastic.
