Update on my previous review. I purchased this in November of 2022. It worked perfectly until this last weekend (February 2023)) when I was away and the weather turned very cold. It FAILED to turn on and is now DEAD! What a disappointment to have nursed these plants for the last 4 months and then to have it fail.

I have a well for a water supply. The water line is buried deep enough that my pipes between the well and the house don't freeze, but at times I can experience issues with the tube from the pump to the pressure switch freezing up if I don't apply some heat to it. My solution is a standard heat lamp, and to extend the life of the bulb and minimize the cost of using it this little gizmo keeps it on enough to avoid it freezing but not enough to try to make things hot. It does exactly what I need for it to do.

This was not a recent buy. Used in a motorhome for an additional heater in the filter area in the underside of the motorhome to stop any freezing of the filter itself. Easily plug into socket and plug heater in it. Solved the problem. Heater comes on when temp drops down.

I have one of these controling a pair of light bulbs which keep my well pump from freezing. Note that I wrote a *PAIR* of light bulbs. Light bulbs occasionally burn out and when they do you risk loosing your well pump (like I did). Use TWO light bulbs so if one burns out you still have some heat on your pump.

I bought this to use in my very large birdbath. Worked great through our first cold blast , kept water clear of ice. But as happened with the last one I bought, two weeks after the return window closed it quit working. I did all the checks including plugging in a device that I know was working. I see no indication that this seller is willing to make it right after a small time has passed. Fifteen dollars for me is too expensive to repeatedly buy this product even though I love my birds as they are my primary source of entertainment. I am on permanent disability and don’t have many ways to get out especially when it is really cold. I really hope I get some sort of a reply from this seller to reinforce my belief in humanity to still take care of business with respect and trust that we all have when we make transactions with people we don’t know or even get to talk to. I am really hoping and praying for a positive outcome and resolution to this situation.

I got this to control a small heater I have in my tractor shed. I don't need heat all the time, just when the temperature drops below freezing as the heater is only intended to make it easier to start the tractor. This adapter is doing the trick and seems to work well at allowing power flow within the stated temperature ranges. In the past I had to remember to go out to the shed to turn the heater on if it looked like the weather was approaching freezing. Now the system looks after itself and I save power by not running the heater when it is not needed.

We use this for a small space heater in our pumphouse for when it drops to -28 or colder outside. Which it never used to do, but now the winters have extreme colder.

Our pumphouse was built at a time when it went to -25. Now with the destabilized arctic air masses in the winter we occasionally get overnight temperatures to -30. We plugged in a small ceramic heater to this magic plug and don’t have to worry about freeze ups.

A small step to adapting to climate change.

3.0 out of 5 stars Too big to fit inside an exterior covered outlet.
Reviewed in Canada on November 25, 2023
Was really pleased to find this product, which I expected to do exactly what I needed it to - i.e., turning eavestrough de-icing cables on and off as needed based on the conditions outside, rather than just having them running for months on end (and wasting energy and money when not needed). Unfortunately, the cube is too wide fit inside the rain/snow cover of an exterior, covered outlet, so can't be used at all. This is too bad, given that exterior uses are one obvious, foreseeable use for such a cube. Keep this in mind if thinking about using it in such a location that needs to be covered because it's outside and exposed to the elements. If that's the case, you'll need to look for another, smaller product that will fit inside the cover.
