Description

The Quik Bounce is designed for use with or without a ceiling to soften the light and transition from horizontal to vertical format without having to adjust or remove the Quik Bounce from the flash. The unique design has doors that can be opened to allow 80% ceiling bounce while redirecting 20% of the light forward to "fill" the shadows cast by the ceiling bounce. When there is not a low, neutral ceiling available to bounce the light, the doors remain closed and 100% of the light is redirected forward.

The Pocket Bouncer redirects light at a 90-degree angle from the flash to soften the quality of the light by enlarging the light roughly 6-8 times over the size of the flash head itself. While no exposure compensation is necessary with automatic flashes, operating distances are somewhat reduced.

The 80-20 allows 80% of the light to pass on, to be redirected by another surface -- most likely a ceiling. The remaining 20% is enlarged and directed forward toward the subject to fill the shadows cast by the ceiling bounce.

The Soft Screen is a camera mounted flash diffuser that softens the harsh light emitted from digital SLR pop-up flashes. It installs into the hot shoe and has optional Velcro for more secure attachment.

The UltraStrap is the most secure, non-adhesive flash accessory mounting strap available. The patented marriage of neoprene and Velcro loop results in a strap that applies a constant 3 lb. tension to the flash with a non skid surface. The rugged UltraStrap attaches to most flashes in seconds to provide a secure attachment point for all LumiQuest accessories.

The SoLite is a solar powered light designed to look like a lightbulb. It is powered by high efficiency, USA made solar panels that are the best commercial grade available. The multi-switch (low-off-high) shuts off automatically in birght lights, pivots to direct the light and catch sunlight and lasts 6+ hours.

Application/Compatibility

Application: To soften shadows and reduce unpleasant red eye. Unique design allows for shooting with or without a ceiling in both horizontal and vertical formats. Ideal for wedding and event photographers. Compatibility: Unless otherwise noted, all LumiQuest accessories fit most standard bounce flashes. If in doubt, email us.

Application: To soften harsh flash with minimal light loss. Can be used with or without slaves where low ceilings are not available, or where more direct but softer fill light is desired. Compatibility: Unless otherwise noted, all LumiQuest accessories fit most standard bounce flashes. If in doubt, email us.

Application: To effectively deliver "two light" lighting with one flash. This device illuminates the scene with light bouncing off the ceiling while providing "fill" light off the bounce device itself. For use in situations in which an 8-9 ft. neutral colored ceiling is available. Compatibility: Unless otherwise noted, all LumiQuest accessories fit most standard boune flashes. If in doubt, email us.

Application To soften harsh shadows and reduce red-eye often produced by pop-up flashes.

Application: truly limitless. Think of it anytime you want to temporarily but securely attach anything photographic to just about anything else! Compatibility: Unless otherwise noted, all LumiQuest accessories fit most standard bounce flashes. If in doubt, email us.

The SoLite is an essential item for all off-the-grid activities, including sail and power boating, outdoor photography, camping and hunting. It is a must have item for disaster relief--blackouts, hurricanes, etc.

Handy gadget! Worth the modest price.

Handy gadget! Worth the modest price.
Every once in a while a really handy little device shows up in the marketplace: the pocket bouncer is one of them. I especially like to use bounce flash for macro exposures, and I take a lot of them. My wife sells vintage jewelery online, and we've taken hundreds of macro pictures for her sales. Bounce flash is especially useful for reducing glaring reflections from polished surfaces and gemstones. Prior to owning this handy ProMax Pocket Bouncer we would jury-rig a large sheet of white foam core above our layout table:a bit of a nuisance. Two other nice things about the pocket bouncer: When not in use, it folds flat, and takes little room in my gadget bag, and, by supplying our own Velcro attachment strips, we can use it with more than one flash unit (We have three).

I took pictures at my son's wedding and tried using the catch-light card on my Canon 580EX II like the paid photographers were doing. I missed several shots because my flash was basically firing at full power every shot slowing re-cycle time way down. With the Pocket Bouncer, I am used to taking a couple of 3-shot bracketed flash exposures at a time shooting at near the full burst capacity of my Canon T1i. The light is softened and recycle time is very fast because there isn't wasted light. Better than a soft-box in my opinion.

I have a Canon 430EX flash unit and I wanted to be able to add some bounce ability and control, with or without a ceiling present. Then it also depends on the height of the ceiling that is present. This intelligent little unit unfolds and attachs to Velcro(tm), hook-n-loop fastened around the flash head. I purchased the  LUMIQUEST Cinch Strap - Easily attach and remove flash bounce  as I did not want to attach the double sticky-back Velcro(tm) directly to my flash unit. The Cinch Strap takes care of that and works like a champ.
This unit folds nicely for inserting a space the size of a small camera (read Canon S5 IS) and installs in seconds and allows one to go from shooting with the flash unit head in a direct vertical position down to a few angles below directly vertical.
It bounces light well and works great with the TTL features of the Canon 430EX and Canon camera.
It works to soften light and to soften shadows.
It gets a great THUMBS UP!! from me.

If you are indoors and have adequate walls/ceilings with which to bounce your light against, then this pocket bouncer is a total waste.
It directs too much of the light forward and is almost as bad as direct flash!! You might as well not use it.
But if you're outdoors, then I can see it being somewhat useful as it will give a larger apparent area of light and so cause softer shadows.
Its just not anywhere as nice as the light you get from bouncing off the ceiling or walls.
I think there's an alternative one meant for indoors that lets you open the top up so that light can bounce up against the ceiling. That would actually be a much better bouncer for indoor use.

You can get better results with a cardboard reflector. It is flimsy in construction, not easy to adjust except to its awkward (less than 45 degree) angle. Its velcro attachment is annoying, and the light it casts if almost as harsh as straight flash with a diffuser. I presume this is because it is relatively small so makes the light source not much bigger than the flash head itself. Save your money and use cardboard.

I was hoping this would help to really soften my flash/speedlight, but I found my images still look like a used a bad flash. It is just a dimmer light versus a softer light. The customer service and the product itself were good quality, but I do not think I would recommend this product for someone looking to soften their light.

I got mine back in may 2008 and so far never been more happy with the results i am getting from this bouncer. The design can't be better, it folds flat so it fits a back pockets of a regular jeans with no problem and makes it easier to store it in a camera bag full of lenses, filters and cameras (my case). If you shoot a lot outdoors or with very high ceilings then this is the tool you should get to have the proper lighting under almost any situation. And if you have more than one flash or just want to add some flexibility i suggest you to also buy the  LumiQuest Cinch Strap  to complete the kit.

Not much to say about this item other than it serves well its intended purpose. I frequently shoot in crowded places where there is a very high ceiling, making it impossible for the light from my flash to bounce from it. Enter the LumiQuest Pocket Bouncer, a very economical item that directs the light from your flash to your subject. Voila! Problem solved.

So why only four stars? Because it looks so cheap. It appears to be plastic-covered cardboard, a comical situation when attached to my Nikon D7000 (not a high-end camera, but a good one); it's sort of like putting a paper crown on a princess.

For that reason, I myself would not recommend this item for professional photographers or semi-pros; in business, appearance means a lot. If you're a photo enthusiast, hobbyist, etc. and your appearance as a photographer is not that important, go for it.

If you purchase this bouncer, I do recommend that you also buy a LumiQuest UltraStrap LQ-126 to hold your bouncer in place.

BOTTOM LINE: If your appearance as a photographer is a factor, I don't believe this product is suitable for you. If you just want to get the job done, this is a very good, economical way to do it. Happy photographing!

I have had one of these for years so when a photographer friend of mine had a special birthday I bought him one. He has found as I have that it offers the same as bounced light from a ceiling but when one is not available or it's painted in any other colour from white. Very light and easy to fold and store. I have even used it outside in very bright conditions for fill-in-light.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ce produit est excellent et présente un des meilleurs rapports efficacité/taille de tous !
Reviewed in France on February 22, 2015
A recommander +++++
