how did this project end up? what did you install and did you have any issues? i want to do something similar, since the stock sound is a little limited.

Have not done the install yet. I will post once iam done. I am just installing a sub amp to add some bump to the stock system. I will be using a LCi2 line converter and a cheap 500 watt amp to power a 8 inch kicker p3 sub. I will farbricate my own sub box to fit on the 40 seat. Be back when the install is done.
    Thanks

Are you done with the line out converter install because I am doing the same install but I am having trouble matching the wires with the speakers even with the diagram. If you have any further guidance I would really appreciate it!

Same here. Trying to wire in an amp using high level signal and this diagram makes no sense to me. I'm looking for the rear speaker wire colors to tap into. Thanks in advance

the rear left door speaker wires I tied into are White and a white black. Knowing this --- If you use this as a reference to the wiring diagram above you can see the W /W-B. I connected inside the rubber conduit (between the body of the truck and the door) door side of the plug connector in the door jam.

The right is LG (light green???) /W-b (white black).

I did not connect the right side yet, no real need to - both sides (left and right) carry the log frequency I need for my kicker sub.

    hope this helps.

if you connect at the plug in the door jam...

The left is White and White black. Just like the diagram has here- Sound signal rear left . That's how I connected - works great!

But the right (here below) shows 3 different connections for Sound signal rear right.... Crazy shit.
Use a speaker with alligator clips to test.

That diagram has a misprint that's all. You're refering to plug R29 pin 6, It's RL- but the discription it says RR, it's uppose to say RL. There are only 2 wires to the right rear that are speaker wires

Here is the wire (left rear door). I tapped into the white and black (left side of picture) - on the door side. I figured if I destroy it in some crazy way, the wires for the door would be cheaper to replace than the truck harness.

    I just installed this: https://www.amazon.com/Kenwood-KSC-...=1487886182&sr=8-1&keywords=compact+subwoofer

I had an extra 4-channel Line out converter (LOC) lying around, so I tapped into the Front and Rear speakers and installed it behind the stock head unit. I installed and ran the RCA to the sub underneath the driver side seat. It fits well with no obstruction. The area under the passenger side seems a bit smaller. Instead of using the subwoofer mount it comes with, I bought some fabric velcro and it's holding in place just fine.

I'm confirming that the diagrams above are correct (with the stated correction). Everything worked fine. The wiring is a bit tight behind the head unit, though, and I had some wires strip and tear from the butt splices I was using after trying to put the head unit back into place and I had to lengthen some of those breaks by splicing in some 16 gauge speaker wire. It got a little messy behind the head unit, but it works.

As for the upgrade of sound, it's pretty good. I think the stock system sounds pretty clean, but fairly underpowered. This small sub install definitely helps to round out the lows while giving the beats some additional punch.

Can I get to this without taking the door panel off? Trying to figure out the easiest way to install a Kenwood powered sub, and it seems like I can tap this connector for speaker as well as ignition switched wire (yellow for window, right?) Then I just need the ground (easy) and battery connection through the firewall (seems pretty straight forward.)

Let me know, or if anyone else has other ideas for making this straight forward (but still clean.)

    thanks.

look at the picture again.... the plug inside the door boot (inside the door jam). Remove the boot to expose the connector. tap on the "door side) of the connector. Still confused? write back

Ah got, just checked on my truck. Thanks. Seems like it might be tight to put the splicing blocks in inside the rubber boot there so I will probably pull the door panel and then backfeed the wires through the boot into the cab. Hmm...
