    Hey everyone.
So recently my 2002 Tacoma 3.4 auto trans has been bogging down immediately after up shifting when speeding up. I didn't think much of it until today when I rolled to a stop sign. The engine rpms dropped and the engine died.

Are these common signs of a bad torque converter or what else could it be?

    Thanks
    Dan

the torque converter is nothing but 2 fan blades in a casing where the spinning/centrifugal motion of one of the fans of the TC moves tranny fluid in such a way with such strength that it turns the other fan of the TC, then once they are nearly identical and above a certain RPM a clutch jumps in and locks the engine and tranny input RPMs.

if that clutch is engaging early, causing a sort of stall kind of like youre describing, i would suspect the fluid and/or the solenoid before a torque converter. I don't think there are any wear-able parts in a torque converter since it's all metal and no moving parts inside..

you might want to look into seafoam in the tranny and a tranny flush and refil.
