Hello Tacoma World, i'm new so please be patient. I have always owned Chevy's, i'm not a kid so i'm somewhat mechanic savvy, however I am ALSO not a pro. I have never owned a Toyota, so these are definitely a foreign beast to me. I just bought a 2001 v6 extended cab 4x4c tacoma for hunting, so far it's been a let down, as a month after I bought it the transmission went out, I installed a salvaged transmission with 110K miles and 1 year warranty, along with a brand new stage 2 clutch kit also with a 1 year warranty, and less than 300 miles later that too failed and went out. So i'm back to the drawing board, thinking maybe the transfer case is the culprit and could be causing hang ups on the transmission and blowing the gears or synchro's? That is a whole different thread, my question right now, is where exactly are the two knock sensors located? I have already pulled the intake manifold off completely, I located the one knock sensor just above the oil filter on the drivers side of the block, and the new wiring harness I purchased seems like they'd both be pretty damn close together, but I do not see the other one, someone said it was by the starter, which I removed when I pulled the transmission and I did not see it under there, nor would that explain why the knock sensor harness would have both connectors so close together being only a 3 inch Y in the cable to reach supposedly both sensors?.. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, i've got time as I just ordered a 2004 transmission and transfer case, so while i'm waiting i'll tackle and address engine bay problems.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
Should be back by the firewall on top under the intake manifold (pass side)

Not quite by the firewall...more across from the other sensor

Honestly, a stage 2 is overkill. You'd be better off with OEM.
