I really like that softopper over the rack idea! I'm trying to figure out a way to cover mine for winter... Whatever I do it's probably going to rub through my paint tho :pout:

at one point we were going to look into finding someone to stitch together a custom canvas to drape over the rack...design closer to the softtopper with full canvas sides with buttons to secure on the bottom.

tricky part comes if you want clear sections to see through at the ends..and to figure out good ways to secure it to the rack.

ideally a canvas top the would work with the RTT on top would be amazing...best of both worlds..sealing the seems around the RTT mount would be tricky in that situation..

not to mention i'd have to figure out something to do with the rotopax mounts on the sides

My dad is going to do canvas sides and top for his. We figure the RTT covers the top enough the small holes for the bolts won't really matter. Guess he will find out..if he ever gets around to it..ha I had thought of doing that myself too..may still attempt it but my roof rack section makes that part a bit more difficult..

First off, I've never posted here: Nice truck! Second off: I'm planning on getting a set of bed bars like Relentless makes and having the local amish make a cover for them. Maybe. I know they can. They made a winter cover for our pool a couple years ago. Thing is bad ass!

haha yea if he ever does it..he has many good ideas like that..just..doesn't implement them a lot..hahaha especially if im not there to go..Hey..remember that one thing? lets do that. haha

Hopefully though. Would be cool..plus i have a great idea for making the holes for the bolts almost totally sealed anyways...

Hey man I second what they were saying. When you come out West to Tahoe let us know. It would be awesome to meet up with you and see your rig in person.

When are you moving back East?
and how long did it take you to install the snorkel?

yea i'm eager to get out to tahoe with my truck...last time i was there we took the murano for gas mileage. 3600 mi trip doing a loop to tahoe>yosemite>la>big sur>sf>tahoe and back to denver was a job best suited for an automatic with more space :D

i would like to turn our moab event into a multi-location event in the future and the rubicon region has been talked about a lot. so i may make a business trip out of it :D

east coast move is a complicated answer haha...but our most likely window will be june. we'll get rock therapy taken care of then look to head back after that. there's a small chance we may be out here for another 5 years or so too. but too many things to take into account right now.

snorkel-did a write up in the March 2013 Tacoma Magazine, http://www.tacomamag.com/march-2013/march-2013-volume-3-issue-1

think my install was around 5-6 hours. as a beta tester on the snorkel, some of the tubes had to be modified more than a production kit would. plus it took a little extra time to figure out a better way to meet up the snorkel to the airbox which required a trip to home depot.

For sure man! Making the event across the West sounds awesome.
lol alright well just let us know when you are going to move back East. Where/when is Rock Therapy?
Hmm I'll definitely have to read the write up. But I think I might have asked you this before, but anyways.... From what I have been told, it is better than the Safari Snorkel that ARB sells that you have to modify to fit the Tacoma, correct?
