    Hello,
Just getting some feedback. Like most the standard trailer plug on my truck is broken. I am going on a trip and will be pulling a flat bed trailer less then a 1000 lbs for my brother in-law. He says it has a 7 blade plug on it and I figure that is the type I would put on but I don't know the versatility it will give me in the long run to have a blade vs a pin. If anyone has a suggestions I am all ears. Also I am consider mounting it in the bumper removing one of the licence plate lights but open to different mounting.

Most of the new trailers are sold with the blade style connector now. Also, it is very easy to find adapters for the blade connector. Honestly, I have not seen the 7 way pin style in a very long time.

Is this the one you ripped off? I put a hole in the bumper on the driver side of the license plate....... with aftermarket socket - but I think you can get the same part as the OEM from Honda.

If I were replacing my 7 way plug I would put one of the dual plugs in. The bigger trailers and trailers with non-passive mechanical brake assist will still use a 7 way but smaller trailers will use a 4 or 5 flat, so both are useful.

Milwaukee bi-metal hole saw will do it. I've got an adapter to use with smaller 4 pin.

There is also a mount adapter that makes the plug point down towards ground instead of hanging down pointing backwards where it gets scraped off......if you want an option that doesn't involve cutting the bumper.....although that greenbird56 spot is more convenient for actually plugging something in.

I've searched but haven't found anything on this, adding to this thread seems better than starting a new one...
My '02 has a plug underneath in the rear which I assume is for trailer lights but it is a square with 4 blades. I've had the hardest time finding an adapter for it, really only found 7 ways that have one square of four and one strip of three. I have a harness kit with the T plugs that tap into taillights and I'm thinking I'll just use that and forget about the existing plug.
Is that a bad idea since I'll not be taking advantage of the converter box located under the rear seat? What the hell does that box do anyway?

Can our OME plug be taken apart and moved here instead of cutting the wires for a new one?

Not sure I understand your question, but I recommend relocation your trailer plug before you destroy it not after. I makes things alot easier

Looking at our plug I was wondering if it can be taken apart relocated and put back together? Or do i need to buy a new plug cut the wires and rewire it?

You can disconnect the wire harness a couple of feet back from the plug, enabling you to feed the plug into a new hole in your bumper.

Thanks, I did not look that far back. Just looked at the plug. I am going out to take a look now. Thanks again.

inspect those connectors regularly and keep them greased. I had to replace my 7 pin b/c of corrosion.

    Darkness!
I might be having to figure something out here real soon to get my trailer harness working again. I'll be continuing my search through here for a remedy but I was wondering if anybody could point me in the right direction for troubleshooting a broken harness. I used it a little over a year ago and it worked and then I tried using it this past May or June and it didn't work. So it sounds like it could be a broken wire or corrosion issue? Would a good place to start be like @chilioil.514 mentioned and check for corrosion or broken wires first? I haven't tried pulling it apart yet but will try and look at it later today. This past time renting a trailer the guys just let me roll out of there ignoring that the lights weren't working but I can't count on that again, especially if I'm driving 5+ hours to pick something up. I'll be reading through this thread here for the time being as I'm sick of having the harness dangling around everywhere - https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/trailer-harness-relocate-bracket.282311/

    Thanks
