When I had my rear gears replaced and rebuilt I was told to run 75w-90 conventional for a while for the break in.

I change it every oil change now with synthetic after the break in period was done and this next oil change i will be running 75w-140 synthetic

Hmm I'll check that out too, thank you. However the only outlet that I have is the cig lighter, don't have the extra 2 outlets.

With how I drive the truck 140 should be a better fit.

Seems guys that drive it hard and or are SC upgrade to the high temp stuff.

Viscosity is the same 75w so thats not a concern, the 140 over 90 is designed to take higher temps before breaking down it seems.

Currently I have been running 75w-90 and changing every oil change so like every 7-8k miles

My grenaded rear end was a mixture of things that lead to its demise.

60k miles no change, Hard accelerations and shifts on street and dirt, Welded tabs on rear axle without changing fluid, Racing clutch, 38 lbs flywheel, failing ujoints on rear driveshaft and a worn out carrier bearing.

hmm i didn't even think about that.. Jerry from BAMF welded on shock mounts to my rear axle and i don't think I've changed the fluid since then.. i was thinking about waiting to change it till i regear in a few months but may just do it sooner..

Keep in mind that 75w-90 in colder weather and in a daily driver is most likely best.

Where I live its warm all year and its not my daily driver so 140 is not going to hurt anything.

Plus it will help when I tow and or am loaded down in the bed.

It cost me a total of $2k because it was a 2 day rush job, parts and labor.

I have a locker too but when my gears exploded they chewed up everything in side.

I didnt have a second car then.. if it would have happened now.. it would have just been the cost of new gears and most likely a lot less labor.

Might as well so it, its easy and doesn't cost much. I had to do it like 4x in my last truck because i kept going through water before i did the breather mod :D

To add to the bad news, my idle pulley bearings are gone so that might have been the reason behind my trucks whine, ordered a new one $40 should be here tomorrow

Bought new Energy poly steering bushings, timing belt kit, couple jugs of coolant, transmission fluid & filter along with the gasket needed. Also got a new Denso sensor for the front of the cat. Now just need to find the time to do the work...
