I took off the EZ Down that I just put on the other day.

A few pages back someone mentioned they put one on, so I looked it up.
Looked like a great idea, and for only $16 I ordered one.

It's a great product, in theory. The problem is that on a Tacoma there isn't enough room for the support cable to fit when you try to close the gate.
For the first couple of days I was just moving it out of the way as I closed the gate, but then it would actually stick out the gap. It was also getting kinked and the plastic around the cable was splitting.

It also causes the gate to be real tight against the passenger side because of the cable scrunched up in the driver side.

I searched and found a lot of people with the same problem and there were a couple of "fixes", but for me they weren't a real solution and not worth it.

Picked her up from the dealer and installed the previously purchased tonneau and weathertech floor mats. 57121d3c3c46068a3ddb2f165acb2142_262a6e772fa5ea5a8f210a991023a44547fc2bdc.jpg

Finally got around to installing the AC outlet in the cab. Decided to put it on the back of the center console.

Picked them up (used) with a tonneau cover and bed extender for $250. Couldn't have hoped for a better deal

Took a grill I got off CL and separated the inner portion from the outer face. Was a little tricky but not too bad. It's going to make it a lot easier to sand and paint. Doing a color match on my truck.

Be sure to use a heavy clear. I used Duplicolor to color match, and the aerosol clear was not thick enough. I'm having to do it all over again.

Out of curiosity what were the fixes you are referring to? I hate how jammed up the EZ down strut and cable get.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm actually using an online company that color matches factory paints, along with the their plastic adhesive promoter and their automotive clear. I tried it on another plastic part and it turned out great. But, we'll see how it goes.
