I saw where some had taken a dremel and trimmed the plastic liner on the inside of the gate, but my cable is getting crushed between the bracket and the ez down so that wouldn't work.

Others say if you put a zip tie on the piston housing with the connector part positioned just right, it will deflect the cable to go to the outside and clear the ez down. I tried that and it would work but the cable still really has nowhere to go and ends up sticking out of the gap so I have this little loop of cable sticking out. I should have taken a pic but I was too frustrated.

I couldn't find a way that would really work so to me it wasn't worth it. If I'm going to have to worry about the cable every time I close the gate, and use two hands to make sure it goes in the right spot, I might as well just be careful when lowering the gate like I always have.

    Good luck.

Oil change and greased the u-joints...well, some of them. It's raining and the grease gun kept getting air in it somehow so I lost patience quickly.

I want to order one of those lenses in smoked from Klearz, but the fact that they don't know it's a "brake" light and not a "break" light is making me hesitate. :D

Shit, they can't even spell their own name right!! :D

But seriously, I'm wondering if the full smoked lens will be too dark or if the red LEDs I got from jumper will be bright enough to be seen and safe.

They have a 5% smoke too but it's almost clear and I really want the dark to match everything else blacked out on my truck…

Same. IPCW makes a black bezel one for our trucks, it's LED, replaces the entire third brake assembly. $70 tho

Buying my truck with cash in 2012, I spent every dollar for what I knew I needed. That included settling for the standard AM/FM/CD stereo. But it does have the AUX mini jack, and using that, and this:
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MJMV0GU/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I now have half-a$$ed BlueTooth, and I'm happy enough with it. Maybe someday I'll upgrade to a real sound system and won't need this.

What it does: Let's me listen to the music loaded up on my phone through the factory speakers. Music mutes when a phone call comes in and I can answer using the unit. While using the phone's GPS, the music also mutes. Using the controls on the unit I can answer the phone, redial a number, adjust the volume, turn the thing off or on, go forward or backward on the playlist.

What it doesn't do is bring up your phone's numbers to make a call. Have to use the phone to do that. Can't change playlists. There is some music degradation. Not much. Other things it won't do as well.

The unit comes with a metal mini plug to mini plug, but I use a cord long enough to get the unit back to me in an easy place to reach it, thus keeping eyes on the road.

Anyway, just tossing this out there, might be of use to someone. Be sure and read the customer's reviews on Amazon. There are other such units available, too.

edited to add: I should have made this post under the 'frugal mods' thread. Sorry

I have something similar that I use for Bluetooth. Not the best, but for $15 allows me to play music from my phone without having to plug it in. Mine also doesn't allow calls to come through the speakers, so you have to use the headset to answer. I have a 16g usb stick in my glovebox that use 90% of the time. It is controlled through the aftermarket headunit touch screen. Mostly use the BT if I am streaming music.

I went with the F-103S. It'll take longer to drain without the plug. By that just turns a 2 beer oil change into a 3 beer oil change. A sacrifice I am willing to accept.

I actually spray down the frame with ZEP all-in-1 house cleaner (eats through all the dirt and road grime great!) Then I rinse it all off with water and once it has dried I spray the frame with Meguiars Hot Shine tire shine.
