It's not kydex or G10. IIRC, it's just a regular hard plastic but the sheaths are built pretty solidly.

It can be hung scout style if you put a Tek-Lok on it. I have one on my Rat3 using 2 screws on one side and it is solid.

Good question. It's my first true Damascus blade, and I was just going off of what the cert of auth said on it. Looks like the same statement for all of their Damascus blades though, so each knife is different depending on the blade width. Some of the other knives they were selling were a much narrower blade than this one, so I'm assuming mine is in the mid-range of layer count. Just looking at the profile of my blade, I count 40 layers just on the bevel. But they overlap and swirl all over on different parts of the knife, so I get a different count wherever I look. I don't fully understand it either, but I love the knife and it holds a great edge and man does it throw a good spark off a ferro rod.

All I know is whatever the layer count is, it will be divisible by 2. :)

It's a very manual process, which is why I think it's fairly easy to count the number of layers, I've just never seen it in a range. Could be normal, or at least appears normal for that maker.

Hey guys, I've had these awhile, any idea on them? All have antler handles.

And a few of my newer ones.

    PeeRunner. thanks.

i hit up my local Goodwill store and i bought an unused leather belt. i wiped green compound on about 15" of it and used it to strop all my knives. i finish with an uncompounded portion of the belt for a (mental) polish. i did them all. right or wrong, convex grinds, scandis whatever. the scandi i did back up with a thing stiff piece of wood i have. belt cost me $1.99.

i am blown away. my kitchen knives. i could operate with. they are KEEN! my Axes..holy crap. knives, holy crap..it is fantastic how sharp a Swiss Army knife or Leatherman can get.

    thanks for the tip.

i used a Mora on a couple of dirty hogs. dulled the blade completely. used the knife for japanese waterstone practice. i got good once i paid really close attention to what i was doing. finished on the strop, and it is as sharp if not sharper than new. Scandi are easy (now).

    :woot:

I admire your persistence to get it conquered.

You can also finish strop on a on a piece of newspaper, laid on top of the wood piece you have. Strop as you normally would, makes a keen edge.

I need to add an ESEE to my collection, I don't have one. I just picked up a classic Mora #1 to get me to free shipping on Amazon.

I really wanted to love the ESEE 3 I picked up but I hated it. I wonder sometimes if the E4 would have been a better option, but now I'm burnt from the 3 that I can't bring myself to order a 4. Lol

ESEE RC-3 is actually a very nice knife. The 1095 steel is one of my favorite - easy to sharpen, very strong, holds decent edge. ESEE are very good at heat treatment of it too.

As EDC it is too big for me (Izula is WAY better for that) and I use it for outdoor. Was splitting some wood one day and thought it is the end of my knife so bent it was inside the log. Sprang right back - no problems :) Excellent quality.

But I can understand some people strongly prefer more modern steels and also stainless vs. high carbon, cause it does rust a lot.
