Dangers of not having a sway bar...

    What are the dangers of not having a sway bar? I dont go on the interstate alot, if so, its no more than 3-4 hours.

    And in Auburn you dont go very fast. your somewhere in about 10-15 minutes


    and can anyone find the writeup on how to remove it?

    Danger would be more body roll. If you have to make an abrupt manuver, the truck is more likly to roll.

    FWIW, Its easy to remove. Take off the skid plate. 4 12mm bolts (2 on the driver side frame rail, and 2 on the passenger side) on the frame, then disco it from the spindle. Pull it free.

    Yah, i just took mine out recently. Theres definitely more roll when turning or changing lanes and feels unstable when ur going 90mph. It gets ur heart going real good,










    I like it.. . .. Mines staying off.

    The sway bar links are bolted right? I cant remember how it looked.
    I can understand that. the highest speed in auburn is 55 MPh and thats going OUT towards 280

    Just worried about the safety of our members and the people who live around them. Tigerfan is correct, and as you found out, it creats an unstable rig on the road. If you disco the sway bar, re connect it for street use, or stay off the freeways. Last thing I want to read is you had a kid swerve into you, and you turned the wheel to avoid the colision, and rolled your rig. :)

    I'm not trying to sound like a dick....but look your 16 and probably not the most experienced driver out there. By removing the the sway bar to a rather large vehicle isn't the smartest move out there.

    It doesn't matter speed wise. You could take a corner at like 30 MPH and forget that you removed your sway bar and the truck begins to react in a way you are not used to and you over correct and you lose control of the vehicle.

    Remember you drive a PreRunner, the removal the sway bar isn't going to have a great affect on the offroading capabilities of your truck.
