Question for the group...can you swap the access cab for a doubble cab? I have came across a few threads on people doing this on first gens but nothing for second gens. I'm assuming the frames are going to be the same and would have to relocate the rear cab mount. Have I missed a thread on this? Thanks in advance.

cut the cab with a saw and get a new frame? just trade yours for a double cab if you want one.

Basically you're talking about making a dclb. A dclb is longer than an access cab.

    If it could be done.....

You'd need the dblcab and the short bed to fit on the Access frame length.

Can't make a double cab long bed on an access frame - too short.

    this.

If you have double cab evny.... trade it. Cus your completly fucking resale value if you take on that insane task of swapping out cab and bed.

That stated, id be ALL for taking a regular cab truck n frame, and swapping on an access cab and short bed like they did for the v8 tacoma. that thing looks sweet.

So I should have expected some of this...I dont have "doubble cab envy" I have a 06 doubble cab also that I have turned into a pretty nice rig! I got a REALLY good deal on a 06 access cab, so that got me thinking could you make it a doubble cab? the first thing was to price out a complete DC wich I did, $2,200 for a complete DC all doors, dash, seats and headliner nothing missing oh yeah and it's the same color.

So, I'm confused. What is your goal? To have 2 double cabs?

You also need to price out a SHORT BED. You can't put a double cab and a long bed on an access cab frame.

If I got a killer deal on an access cab taco I would flip it and buy a double cab.

That doesn't help you. I get that. But converting to a DC sounds like way too much of an undertaking.

OP if you thinks it's a reasonable idea and it's something you want to do I'd say go for it. I've been through what this thread is going trough asking about doing a 4x4 conversion on my truck. Money is what's stopping me. But if you really want a project and you think this is what you want, and it's possible, then by all means do it.
