The salt on the roads causes that. The ice on your truck is no different from rain.

You do realize that rain, or water as it's sometimes called expands when frozen? It gets between fasteners, into seals, into every nook and cranny and when it freezes it expands roughly 10%. Now if you think the factory left 10% play in everything then you're high. Ice is in no way the same as rain other than it's H2O. My daily driver is a 1993 Civic and every time it freezes it peels more and more paint off the car. The damage might not be as noticeable in a 4-8 year old truck but it's being damaged none the less.

Now can we go back to "oil change interval" :D

Worried about ice and changing oil. Must be a warm weather thing.

Ugggghh, the thread has clearly gotten to big and must be deleted. The "No one has ever" statement was making fun of an earlier statement that said earthquakes were the devil and ice is good, or something to that effect. Then you took the joke seriously. Now we're all confused...

Do you believe the factory designed cars sold in a variety of different climates to fail because of ice?
If that is seriously how you feel you should avoid the sun because the UV rays damage paint, dry and crack rubber parts and discolor plastics.

Thanks for letting your ego ruin this...It was fun while it lasted. As much as common sense is telling me not to "engage crazy" I'm going to regrettably do it.

Look Mr. Snowman, I'm not trying to argue about what environmentals do to raw materials but if you honestly believe the extreme temps, salts, chemicals, UV rays and bird shit don't affect how long a vehicle lasts then I can't nor can anyone else help you. Some of us take pride in making a car/truck last as long as possible. Others drive it like they stole it for five years then trade it in. This was never about environmentals and if you had any sense of humor you would have known that. Leave it to the Canadian to ruin it...you must be having a bit of vitamin D deficiency.
