I cleaned it really well. Put two coats of self etching primer and three coats on black. I have to go get the cans in the morning to see what brand they are.

Think I might have to touch up a few parts on mine. Noticed a couple rust spots in some corners.

Attention!! There will be a slight delay in shipping. Starting with last weeks orders that I dropped off. Due to the rise of damages from shipping all items will have to be crated. Feel free to ask any question.
    Thanks Eddy

Thanks for the heads up eddy. I would rather wait a little longer than get stuff that is damaged.

I think he is done with all order from the GB list and is shipping the last few out, but you can always see if he can start a new one.

it is sitting on my back porch. Still haven't put the clear coat on it, and it's been raining for two days. I am also going to buy a piece of expand metal or some type of mesh to attach behind the TOYOTA cutout in the lower part.

I cut a piece of metal and spray painted it then used magnets to hold it on. Hasn't budged an inch

The self etching primer is Rust-oleum. This was recommended by the Auto body instructor at the local community college when painting aluminum. Someone a page or two back also used self etching primer. I used Rust-oleum 2X satin black. It is still a little shinier than I would like. I'm going to get a can of flat clear coat and test a small section on the inside of the bumper to see what it looks like.

If it stops raining I will do this Friday.

I've put about 1000 miles on the new bumper, and am surprised to report that it really hasn't affected my fuel economy on the highway. I figured that stripping off the stock bumper would totally mess up the aerodynamics, but I am getting very consistent mileage to what I got pre-bumper.

Did you get aluminum or steel?

I got aluminum and can't tell a difference in fuel economy.

Edit...just saw that you ordered aluminum as well.

I haven't really noticed much of a difference in fuel economy either which is crazy considering I got steel.

I used rust-oleum self etching primer and rust-oleum automotive matte black. Both in rattle cans. Seems to be holding up pretty well.

Nah just like three coats of the black. I picked up some clear coat rock guard that I might try out on the harder hit areas, but that requires extensive taping since it is already installed. We'll see how it holds up.

Well got my bumper installed and painted with bed liner, I did go over it with flat black so I hope it holds up. It took awhile waiting for lights and wiring for it but it is done!

What lights did you use in the fog holes?

I rubbed the bumper down with steel wool and then put one more coat of satin black and two coats of satin clear.

    Installed the winch.

    Took the plastic bumper off.

And what is the purpose of this thing? It's the rectanglur piece that slides inside the lower part of the frame just below where the bumper bolts on.

It have a good sized bolt that holds it in.

Take the bolt out and the piece just slides out.

Nothing was attached to it. It just sticks out.
My son will in tomorrow to help install the SOS bumper.
