That would explain why its so stiff then over even the smallest bump right?
Would i be better off without the spacers until i can get a new suspension? Been looking at Icon and Fox for Coilovers and shocks. and either the deaver spring kit or dakar with AAL. and i dont know about UCA's. i hear a lot of people mention LR or Total Chaos. Icon also has some too.

    Any suggestions?

Yeah that will give you a stiff ride, tires could be a factor too. But I have ome884s and I don't really have a smooth ride either. You'd have to take a picture of the top of the shock for us to tell for sure if there is a spacer. But I wouldn't remove it until you get new suspension because you might not clear your tires.

You'd have to talk to people with Icon, Fox or King suspension set ups. I have no experience with them, but it sounds like people that have any of the three like them. From reviews, Id go with the Dakar leaf pack. And for UCA's, I'm thinking about getting TC UCA's.

Not sure about ride, but you should be fine as long as you don't wheel real hard. Don't google image "strut spacer failure" or it'll make you take them off tonight. Do not remove yours though or you won't clear for your tires.

Fox is good just doesn't hold up to the weather as well.

Deaver springs don't give you as much lift, or the ones that I have found at least. Dakar with aal will give you 3.5-3.75" of lift.

UCA's I'd go uniball, I love my desert products ones, got them through DownSouth Motor sports. I wouldn't go with LR UCA's, they have been known to fail often, people say they fixed the problem but if im going to spend that money I want them to for surely not break.

When you come back we can meet up and you can ride in my truck to feel what the kings are like before you get new suspension

Oh yeah didnt think about tire clearance and if i did remove them i dont think they would fit.

Haha then im definitely not googling that! Plus i have to wait a couple months anyway to do anything to the truck so that works out. Wont be wheeling hard anytime soon.

Okay im been pricing out Icon stuff and they seem pretty good. Havent been able to find to much info or reviews about them on here though.

Dakar with AAL sounds good to me. So even though its giving 3.5" of lift you wont get that in the end right?

Ive seen a lot of people mention Total Chaos UCA's and they all seem to like them. And ill give Desert Products a look too.

Dakars alone gave me 3" still even after settling, they advertise 2.75" of lift. Numbers I've read say that the AAL gives you another inch of lift so in the end you'll end up with no less than 3.5" of lift. Probably a little more.

Total chaos UCA's are great just a little pricey for me.

Oh okay. Did you find that info on their site?
Dakar leaf set is pretty well priced too.

Havent looked to much into the price of Total Chaos yet. Need to do that next.
I remember you saying Icon were Digressive shocks? is that for all of them or just certain set ups?

They advertise 2.75" here, which is where i got mine. Great guys to go through and they can install the AAL before they even ship it, plus if message yota dan on here (or call and ask for Dan) he can get you a deal since you are a TW member. They also have Icon if you go that route and total chaos, along with desert racing like my uca's. All Icon coil overs are digressive.

Oh nice i was literally just looking at everything on Wheelersoffroad! Cool ill definitely have to message him when the time comes i can get everything.
How do you like your UCA's? they hold up pretty well? Would you recommend those for higher speeds off road?

Sometimes he can take a day to respond and doesn't respond on weekends (probably out wheeling) but they are super nice people and regular shipping is only 2 days usually since they are in southern Oregon. I think he does 5% off the total purchase price.

I love my UCA's! Unlike Total Chaos they have a tubular design (not sure how it makes a difference but i've been told it does). John at Mule expeditions who put them in for me (he has a racing background and was a crew chief) said that they have extremely good welds and seem to be built indestructible. The only difference that you will notice between uniball UCA's versus balljoint is that they are a little louder, the only time i've noticed mine being louder is when I go over bigger potholes and bumps at highway speed, it sound like the truck hit a bigger pothole than it really is, just sounds stiffer.

Awesome! That would be pretty cool.

I havent been able to find Desert Racing on Wheelers. So there really isnt a big difference in performance from Uniball vs Balljoint? And what are the Total Chaos if they arent a tubular design?

I just looked and they don't carry them anymore.. Oops. But I messed up, Total Chaos is a tubular design, desert products is a boxed design. I got my UCA's from DownSouth Motor sports, they have a profile on here but don't check it too often. If you call and ask for Micah he will get you 5% off as well, I would have gone through wheelers but they don't have king coil overs and I just wanted to get them all at one place. These are the uppers that I got:

Oh okay, ive seen so far that the boxed design is better and more pricey. Cool ill check them out also.

So really the biggest decision so far is between Digressive and Progressive shocks. Do you think Digressive would help improve on road travel at highway speeds with bumps? How is your ride on the highway?

Well Total Chaos UCA's are about $100 more so tubular design is more $$$

I have read that going off road at 60mph icons soak up every bump, so I'd assume they are a good ride on the highway. My Kings ride amazingly on road. I have noticed you feel the very small bumps in the road at slow speeds but soak up the larger bumps, and at highway speeds they soak up every bump and ride really smoothly. Just the other day I pulled into this parking lot and they had speed bumps, I went really slowly like I would on trails and they soaked it up, I hardly felt it.

Also before you get any new coil overs you should decide if you want to get a front steel bumper in the future, if so you might want to get the 650lb coils, they usually come with 600lb coils which is the same as stock (600lbs meaning it takes 600lbs of weight to compress the coil 1 inch). The ride will be a bit stiffer until you get a bumper but then they won't compress as much when you add the weight of a steel bumper. The more they compress the more preload you have to add to the coil to get the same height, the more preload the stiffer the ride.

I just looked up the DR UCA's and they look awesome. and im all about saving some $$$. So far ive seen A LOT of people talking about the King shocks and coils, everyone seems to back them a lot compared to Fox and Icon. Kings seem to be great all around with every speed on and off road. I guess ill have to do some home work on the two before really deciding on one.

I was thinking about the front bumper but more along the lines of a tubular steel bumper compared to some of those thicker armor bumpers. But im not sure if im going to do that cause i might be looking to upgrade to a 4 door when kids arrive, make life much easier, and then probably holding onto that truck for longer. but thats all in the future for now.

A ton of people love king, fox, and Icon. Really you can't go wrong with any of them, I probably talked to 5-10 people about which ones they prefered, most people said Icon and king but a few liked Fox. What it came down to for me was I had to think, what kind of off roading do I do most? Me its forest service roads and trails. That narrowed it down to progressive since I wanted it to soak up the bumps at low speeds. Then between fox and king I liked the look of king the most, a ton of people get king coils and put them on fox/icon struts so I knew i'd be getting the best coil out there, they came with a resi to keep them cool, and the internal mechanics are made better than fox.. Plus another huge factor for me between Icon and king is King uses metric hardware like our truck, Icon uses SAE and I didn't want to have to carry SAE tools since I have all metric.
