    Hello,

My name is Braith and I have a new 2015 Toyota tacoma crew cab, long bed, 4wd trd sport truck with auto transmission.
I notice a clunking noise coming thru steering wheel at low speeds esp over rumble strip type bumps. Also I can hear clicking in steering wheel when I move it fast side to side at dead stop. Feels like something in steering is loose. Has anyone else experienced this. Dealer says no problem found, but drove another on lot that didn't do this.

Take it back to dealer. Get someone to sit with you in the truck and experience the noise. Get them in another to experience the lack of a noise if they don't agree its unnatural.

My '15 has the same issue I think. I dont notice a noise, but there is a bit of play when driving on dirt/gravel roads. I only have 600 miles on it and it'll be the third time back to the dealer. My first experience with buying a new car is not going like I hoped it would so far!

they aint going to fix it as toyotas fix simply doesnt fix it.

Take the 10 min to simply put a zip tie through the hole to remove the gap and all your problems will be solved.

Same issue on my brand new 2015, but I'm kind of used to it as my 2007 was the same way. I did the zip-tie thing on my 2007 and it kind of helped some. Not sure yet if I'll do it on the 2015 or not.

Drive another one of their trucks on the lot and see what you think.

His initial post said he "drove another on lot that didn't do this."

Mine has had a rough road slight clunk for the last 60,000 miles so did the 97 for 285,000 miles it's fairly common for rack and pinion steering.

Does this work on the '15s? I read in one thread that the shaft was updated and the zip tie no longer works. I have not looked under the dash of mine yet, but would be more than happy to zip tie it instead of dealing with the dealer who will "not be able to replicate the problem" and send me on my way.
