It's been fun, but I traded in my Tacoma '13

Since when is the F150 XLT a 'plush truck'? It's also sort of difficult to move lumber in a sedan and putting dirt in the back of a minivan probably wouldn't do wonders for the interior.

I just made comment. The truck, as he described it, is a plush truck, at least to me.

You don't see any fleet trucks equipped like that, at least around here.

I also never said anything about dirt or lumber. Only commented on transportation.

In my own case, I prefer my vehicles to be for purpose. So my truck is basic, and does what I need it to do as a truck.

Road trips are in a more comfortable ride.

Fun is in a sports car.

All 3 combined cost less that one loaded up new truck.........

    Ah. To each his own.

I'll never understand the reason for these posts

Glad your happy with the new truck. No way I would have done that personally but that's just me.

Congrats on the truck. I was literally on my way to buy a F150 the day I bought my Tacoma. I think you made a good choice and I'm not biased towards Fords or Toyotas.

What he said. I was hoping to get a killer deal on a leftover 2014 F-150. Even after rebates, they were still awful expensive with the equipment I wanted, and I really liked the manageable size and handling and (maybe) MPG of the Tacoma. Can't say I won't be tempted to trade up a size in 3-4 years when my boys are a foot taller and I've got that kind of equity in my Taco. Happy trails, OP.

Good luck with the F-150. They are good trucks and the most popular brand of truck sold in the USA for a reason. I've had a few Fords and they do well until about 120K when things start to fall apart. Resale value is not going to be the same as a Toyota but you won't have to worry about that for a while. I was pleasantly surprised in the trade-in value of my '04 Taco when I traded for my '13.

Sounds like a great deal on a new F150!

I have zero brand loyalty and try to pick what best works for me across the spectrum (cost/reliability/safety/functionality...etc) at the time and expected duration of ownership. I've owned F150s and F250s and... Okay, you get the picture and I was pretty happy with them. The F250 4x4 Powerstroke was without a doubt the most problimatic vehicle I've owned. It was also my favorite so, it worked for me and those issues sure wouldn't prevent me from buying another F250 diesel. In fact, and not that I work for Ford, I get the x-plan as well and will consider one for my next vehicle purchase.

Enjoy the new truck and hang around for a while...

and from what my neighbor experienced with his Ford he can count on replacing more. He sold his because of driveshaft problems. 3 in less than 90k.

For every POS (insert brand/model) truck story on the interwebz there's countless people with trouble free ownership of the same model.

My dad is the original owner of his 2009 lariat F-150 4x4, it has the older triton 5.4L V8, but was the first model year with the 6 speed auto. His truck currently has 177k miles on the original motor and transmission. In fact, it's never been back to the dealer at all.
