Fixed it! It's on and swinging. I can't find my allen wrench set so I have to wait till morning to put the top cap on. I also have to get the latch on too.

Big thanks to Steve for mentioning the part number. I thought that spindles were made with special pieces. I found 2 at O'reilys so I grabbed both . I sanded one down slowly with fine sand paper and when I got it about half way in but to snug to push in by hand I used the castle nut and washer as a press again. Still super snug. Now I just have to fix my mounting issues.

Good deal Gage! Also on another note, everyone realizes that I will be on the slope during the trip, right?, so no chance of a rescue.... :stirthepot:

I think you heard only what you wanted to hear.

At this point in the process that ONLY thing that is set is that the last camp night will be the 20th.

    :D

    This is kinda worrisome.

Glad to hear you got it figured out Gage.

The 20th is a Thursday. Not a weekend.

    Sweet!

    :anonymous:

I will be in glacier then. If I have to cut out from Canada early so be it. It's too far for me otherwise.

Thread won't go up for a long time

I come to WY in the beginning of May. Gonna be staying in Rock springs and commuting to kemmerer. Working 7-10's for 4 weeks. Won't be able to hang then but was gonna see if I could get a wheeling trip in before I left up there if I take the taco. May stay an extra week or so after the project is done.

Just to give you a heads up. I likely won't be able to do anything longer than a weekend trip. My sisters wedding is May 28th so it will have to be a weekend after that most likely.

Also, the job I am most likely to get also requires me to work some weekends. Just giving forewarning so it doesn't seem like I dipped out last minute.

Hmmm...may is usually too early to get up in the trails in the mountains due to snow. But it has been a dry year..

Well the project starts may and is a 4 week project so wheeling would likely be in June if anyone would be interested.

It's hard to get all that in a weekend. If you find time off during the job buzz over to laramie and we can hit up snowy once it opens. Kind of a sweet but very mild place.

If it's in June. May have a meet setup by then I'm sure. Either lander or the big horns. Possibly goose which is technically Montana but whatever.

That's a great job for him not being a professional. He used Avery which is pretty much top notch quality wrap that a lot of installers suggest. I could have easily done the truck with better wrap but the china knockoff has piss poor adhesion and "bubbles" unless you apply gobs of adhesion promoter which is a PITA to remove later.

Also, it's a lot harder to use a wrap with a pattern (brushed metallic). When you stretch it to much it will be very obvious because of the pattern.

One day I will fork over the cash for a proper wrap :D. But I won't do it until I have a garage or live in a state that doesn't have random 50mph wind gusts

The 'should I do this or just let it be since its gonna get messed up again eventually' struggle. Always a hard one to decide.

    Well..I wanna cage it..so there's that..and link the rear...so...yea. I'll wait.

For me it's is it a good investment fs just getting it painted. Sure the paint will get scratched, but it won't tear off...and how long will it last...ect.

Paint may be better in your case. Unless you go flop it again . I think wraps will be fairly effective in protecting paint in mild conditions. I would be worried about the mud and grime you would blast on it with the 35's. My paint has held of rather well despite the narrow forest roads I have been down and the dog hanging out the window. A good wax before wheeling season does wonders.
