Hmmm im curious on this now. I actually just had one of my rear Icons go bad (my fault!) so been looking at what route I want to go now. Havent really looked at the advantages of a 12" shock and all that

 

Well I don't really want to spend $800 for king rear shocks, plus with the 12" shock I get a lot more travel out of it and is stronger than OEM mounts (if welded correctly). So I really hope this ends up being a good decision

 

yeah i dont really want to spend money either! I just need to call icon and some other places and see how much it is to get new shafts for their shocks. I need a rebuild and new shafts for both my rears

 

How many miles have you had them on for?

 

less than 3k...basically put them on in April last year. Drove around a bit then did the 1200 miles to San Diego and it has maybe put on another 300 miles since august.

The problem was i was living right on the ocean (literally my truck was 100 feet from the water) and i didnt protect the shocks at all. The front C/O's are fine but the rear shafts are pitted pretty bad. One shock the rust actually damaged the seal so the shock lost all...pressure...oil..i dunno but it doesnt work lol. 100% my fault though i cant blame icon. But since the shafts are so pitted from removing the rust...without repair i fear it would just keep damaging the seals

 

Anyone know what is the max HP/TQ gain we can get without doing force induction?

 

I've got the same kit sitting here waiting to be installed for about 6+ months...

 

How can you let it sit for that long?? I'm so excited to get mine in! What shocks did you go with?

 

It depends on how much $$ you are willing to throw at it. Are you just talking bolt on items or a full race engine without a blower?

Do you want it for towing or racing?

No offense, but I hope I'm not going to be that slow. Every time I say, "I'm ready to order", I think of some other thing I need to check before I'm sure about what I'm ordering (shock-wise). I was lucky enough to find the compression/extension lengths of the old OME N182, and the Kings are bigger in both aspects. Solves my extension issue, but now I have to ask them about compression specs, and before I do that I need to get them a picture explaining how I took measurements I'm sure it's overkill, but I'm not repeating my last setup where I made assumptions.

 

I ordered mine six weeks ago and just got a notice today that a shipping label was created. I hope your wait isn't as long.
