Yes I used LED in the overhead recessed lights and they work like a champ with the dimmer switch.

I have 2 Puck LED lights on the glass cabinet. The cost to add 3 glass shelves is pretty high. So far the lowest cost is $367 for the 3 shelves. I am waiting on one other cost estimate to come in. The highest cost for the shelves is around $450. The shelves are 3/8 inch low iron tempered glass with polished edges. Size is 34.25 inches by 10.50 inches per shelf.

Wait'll the countertops go on! :) I may have to revisit LED dimmers.

So with the lights in the cabinet, I guess you could limit the lit area to just the top shelf by keeping wood shelves. When I think about it it doesn't necessarily sound too bad.

On another topic: in about 6 weeks I should receive my first pension check. Feels good.

So far no cancellation on the Wednesday counter top install. They should have been installed last Friday. Another 5 day delay.

I am getting ready to order glass shelves. I am waiting for one more price to come in to me.

Thank you Mark. The wife is really tired of not having a kitchen. At least the refrigerator was moved back into the kitchen yesterday.

Oh wow, that brings back memories. We had a temporary 'kitchen' in the basement for weeks. Microwave and toaster oven on a folding table, utility sink for washing dishes, plant stand as a dish storage rack, another folding table as dinner table. At first it was an adventure, but after a little while it was just a PITA.

To me this is one of the best little features that no one will really notice or understand.

This is a pic of the refrigerator with the old cabinet configuration. Notice how far it sticks out from the cabinet line.

    DSC_0239_zps2834de61_2d3677beeca945637b6a70511e9bd35ab25b4a56.jpg

Did a little wall remodeling and removed the drywall, 2X4's, and framed in the opening thus creating a 3 in deep hole to slide the refrigerator in to.

The finished product which simulates a built in effect.

Not that expensive but is really effective.

Tom that looks awesome! And you didn't have to get one of those cabinet-depth fridges to pull it off. Those things make exactly zero sense to me; less capacity, higher price.

EDIT: And I see you got the fridge without any stuff in the door. We did that too. We don't use a lot of ice, and the in-door features make up something like 85% of the service calls. We're fine with opening the door a little more often, having more interior space, and calling the service man less often.

    Dave:
We did not want to lose the room on the inside of the fridge for the icemaker. I will miss water through the door but I will have a hot and cold filtered water installed at the sink. Almost impossible to find a water through the door fridge now days.

    Kitchen looks nice.
Your old cabinets look better than what I have now.
My 12 yo water in door fridge picked up at sears and saved about 900$ on it. Had a big nasty crease down the front of door. We had younguns and knew it'd be tore up and covered with fridge art. Going on 13 yo now.

The cabinets were 25 years old. I repurposed four of them in the laundry room and the rest will go in the garage later on this spring.

I came home today and found a package at the front door - knowing the tremendous group of friends I've made through the love of Labrador Retrievers and Lab Rescue organizations I can't say that I was surprised. Touched. Blessed, but not surprised because I've come to know the depth of their caring and compassion.

Hanging now on our porch here at Mighty Mortgage Manor, and overlooking our favorite view, are Charlie's chimes. They ring deeper than Daisy's - also a gift from our friends - and are both beautiful and inspiring.

Thanks go out to our wonderful friends at New Orleans Lab Rescue, and Southwest Pennsylvania Retriever Rescue Organization, and all of the Labradorks. Their thoughts, prayers and words of compassion have helped us tremendously in adjusting to Charlie's passing. Sir Charlie. Triple B. He now overlooks MMM forever and whenever we here his chimes we'll know he's here to visit and to play in the yard and fields.

I also just learned that the contributions for Charlie's memoial resulted in $350 being sent to both SPARRO and NOLA in his memory. We are so touched and can't think of a better way to remember our adopted, sweet boy.
