As I look at what you've done, I can see that I could cust a custom template out of cardboard and then have the local TAP Plastics cut a sheet that would work for my regular cab.

Because of my skid plate armor, a standardized regular cab design probably wouldn't work for me anyway.

That leads to the question: are you interested in selling the mounting straps by themselves as a kit?

I'm looking at changing the one strap than hangs down into a fixed length strap. Not that it will get hit, but I don't like the buckle hanging down below the skid.

But, here's the black skid mounted up and ready for some abuse.

What are you thinking for fit on offroad models like mine that have the bolts sticking down? Seems like it would create an undesirable mounting surface.

Yeah - in the event that you need the skid to slide along some rock - that looks like a hangup point.

That's definitely something to think about Zach.

I need the following to add holes for the bolts.

    - Length of bolt below the strap
    - Distance between the bolts
    - Diameter of the bolts
    - Location of the bolts on the strap

I don't have an offroad, so I'll have to track one down if I can't get these dimensions.

The other option is to require offroad owners to drill four holes in their skid, but that's not the best option.

If you need a set of straps and hardware let me know.

My original buckles tucked up further. The issue with the new cam buckles is the doubled up area that's stitched and the extra length. I can either use a fixed length strap or the other style of buckle for this one strap. I'm leaning towards the other buckle for ease of use.

It seems like the skid is a little short towards the rear, i understand that most of the hits are going to come right at the front but is there a reason it doesnt run the full length of the tank?

By the time whatever you're on gets to the back of the tank your tire should raise you off of the obstacle.

There isn't a spot to attach the very end of the skid on the back of the tank either. If the skid extended beyond the rear strap without a hanger it would droop.

Finally had the chance to crawl under a DCLB. The cross member is 8" further away from the tank than the DCSB. I'll have to adjust my cut file and pick up some longer blanks, but that won't be an issue.

I've thought about that. You'd have to build a skeleton to attach the panels too though. Probably not a large market for it either. :)

That thing has 4 wheel Independent Suspension with CV axles at every corner.

Doesn't have a center driveshaft going to a differential on a solid rear axle.

So a skid like that is a bit impractical on our Tacomas.
