    Hello All,

I took the truck to the dealership last Friday to start the TSB process. I took a printed copy of the TSB with me. Told the guy that when I was hauling 7-8 bags of sand, some concrete and 2x4's that I was hitting the bump stops and it was a very harsh ride and did not feel it was a safe condition. Told them I had a matching VIN and that the part number on the springs matched the bad spring numbers in the TSB.

Got a callback today that they want the truck and will mess with it for a day and we will go from there.

Any ideas tips what I should mention while I am dropping off the truck?

I will do some searching to see if there are any others that have had the same situation.

    TIA

Is all that stuff you said true? Or do you just want the TSB?

Absolutely. It was eight bags of sand. Four in some garden dirt and the rest used to level some spots in my yard.

be ready to try and duplicate the situation, took me 3 trips and calling toyota and then finally had it done at another dealer. Local guys did not want to bother. But Toyota did make me reproduce the "exact circumstance" when I first had trouble.

Mine bottomed out over a bump with 2 adults in the front seets, empty bed. Getting tsb suspension tomorrow. Just asked the dealer yesterday. They were like "sure no problem, we'll order the parts now"

Now I feel really lucky. Called my dealer up (Earnhardt Toyota in Mesa AZ) and they did the TSB no questions asked. Even gave me a loaner to drive while they performed the leaf swap.:)

I had to go back with 600 lbs in the bed and they had an engineer from Toyota come out and test drive it with me, then he looked over the truck top to bottom for about 45 minutes and they scheduled to have the work done a few days later.

Same here. I called Toyota's 1-800 number first. Told them what the problem was and mentioned how the rear-end was all over the place and gave me a 'very unsafe' feeling. To the point I was afraid to drive it when loaded. Expressed my concerns that the weight was only around 500lbs or so. I then stated the weight limit of the bed and how it wasn't even close to limit. I exlpained how I purchased one of thier trucks to haul with and to use it 'like a truck'. I repeated the 'very unsafe' feeling I experienced under this circumstance and my displeasure I had given the price of the Tacoma and how I could have gone with a cheaper brand that would have hauled everything.
I was extremly nice and polite and never raised my voice. At this point, they were kind of like 'hmmm...' So I then mentioned I had done some research into the problem on the internet and found the TSB which described my situation to a tee. I then mentioned how the TSB only covered up till 2008 yet my VDS number was ont he TSB as well as the effected part numbers that were on my truck were an exact match to the TSB. I then asked what had been done to fix this issue on the 2009's and now the 2010's? They just apoligized for my displeasure and mentioned I needed to bring the truck into the dealer. I said no problem and they gave me a case number. I then dialed the dealership that sold me the truck and gave them pretty much the same info. I mentioned 'very unsafe' feeling at least twice. I also mentioned that I had contacted Toyota. I had a case number, which they didn't ask for, and told them Toyota told me to contact them.
I needed to bring the truck in. No problem. Brought it in, 3 hours later they told me they would upgrade the suspension under warranty and how they had a few people already complain. Made an appointment for the next week. I told them I could not wait for the truck all day and needed a loaner as I had my mother-in-law watching my son and needed to get home asap to relieve her. I got a 2010 Camry to drive. Crappy car, but no biggie. They had the truck all day and pI picked it up around 6pm.

Very easy process. Be firm on the fact that you feel very unsafe. Mention that a few times if you feel they are giving you the business. Have a copy of the TSB with you as well as the VDS highlighted as well as the part numbers. This is a known issue. Hopefully you will have no problems.

tell them you had a harsh ride when you had 2 people in the truck also. also say you pull a tralier from time to time and when you do you have the same problem. take that print out of the tsb and read them the part about harsh ride. it basicly says, that some people may experience a harsh ride when weight is in the truck, and updated rear springs are available to improve this condition. it says nothing about a technical analysis need to be preformed to be approved. do this in a nice manner, and i really don't see how they can dance out of that. that is what i did to get the tsb done. kill them with kindness, don't act like a jerk. that is the route i try to take
    in life.

Good luck it's like pulling teeth. This job must not pay well or something.

I have the TSB and AAL, my truck still sags with a full box of camping gear, not to happy about that. Why is Toyota so concerned with making their trucks ride like cars?

The reason i was asking if all that was true, i was in the service dept making an appt to get my springs done. Mine bottoms out everytime i haul my trailer. And there was this guy in there complaining of a "harsh ride" and that was his exact words. I saw him in the parking lot later on and he said he had 29,000 on his truck and he was trying to get all the TSB work done he could before his warranty ran out. there was nothing wrong with his truck. He just wanted the new springs.

Not sure if they ever gave them to him or not. I go in thursday and get mine put on. Hopefully it will smooth out the ride a bit.

    Case manager called dealer

    Dealer called me

Bring it in for the TSB!

    Here ya go...

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/7107-tsb-list-2005-2008-toyota-tacoma.html

For some reason the link isnt working right...

If you click on 2nd gen tacomas. Its the last sticky at the top...It says "2nd gen tips mods and more" Its by tcbob

Click on that and there is a link to all the TSB's. Once your on the TSB page, at the bottom there is a link where you can download and print the TSB's.

Try this link on for size...

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/7158-dealers-who-performed-suspension-tsb.html

I dont know why, but everytime i link to another thread, and i try to click on it, it takes me to the main forum page. But if i copy and paste the URL it works...

So if anybody wants to go to these pages, you might have to copy and paste...I have no idea why its not working right for me.

My service guy called and told me they will order the spring kit, but I would have to sign a staement that "the ride will be rougher with the new springs". I said OK, I use my truck to haul stuff, and not bottom out when I do.
