To cover or not to cover (seats); Wet Okole question

I'm considering two options for seat covers on my 2015 TRD O/R and it's leading me to two questions.

1. I think the TRD seats are very comfortable; I like them significantly more than the seats in my old SR5. I have Wet Okoles in my Impreza and they're kind of thick in my opinion. For those who have them with TRD seats, do you find having the seat covers on detracts from the comfort of the stock seats?

2. How easy is it to clean the stock seats? They have kind of a mesh-like outer material that makes me think they would be difficult to clean.

I'm trying to decide between the seats being typically uncovered and having a throw-cover in the truck to toss over the seats when I'm wet or dirty, or getting Wet Okole covers and still having the throw-cover in there for the same purpose.

Wet okole covers make the TRD seats even more comfortable.

TRD seats stain if you look at them wrong. Also, you'll tear the mesh to shreds if you use any kind of bristle brush on them. You will also wear a hole in the side of the seat right above the lumbar support knob if you don't cover the seat. The fabric isn't very tough

How are the Wet Okole's with dog hair? Accumulation, and hair removal.

 

Dog hair can be troublesome to fully remove from the wet okoles. The shorter hairs tend to 'weave' themselves into the fabric of the neoprene (others can attest to this as well). I find a lint roller works best. And, of course, I bought the black covers so it shows more than a lighter color might.

That said, the covers have more than paid for themselves. If I pull the covers, you'd never know I carried a 70lb Golden everyday. Get you some weather techs while you're at it.

 

When I sold my 2007, I left the old cheap covers on and they never removed them to see what the seats looked like. So really I guess it didn't matter what they looked like.

That said, the truck had 110k miles so the dealership probably was going to send it to auction anyway. If I sold my 2015 with fewer miles maybe they'd want to look under the covers, I don't know. This truck is going to accumulate miles slower than the last since I have a second vehicle that I use to drive to work during the week now.

 

+1 on the weather techs some people prefer husky but i like my weather techs. As far as Wet Okole goes i love them. Op i put them on my truck and i also use something to throw over if i am extremely dirty or have oil stains on my clothes. I definitely recommend them they make your seats so much more comfortable. Also stains are easily shown on the trd seats.

 

I did put in WeatherTech liners, ordered them almost right away. I have those in the Impreza too. I love them.

 

You need to cover them with something,

Especially if you are prone to spilling your coffee on the way to work and stuff!

I vote get em, they are great and worth it.

 

Make sure you order the care kit with the wet okoles. You get shampoo, deodorizer, and a UV protection product...keep your junk looking decent

 

Ditto. What year is your impreza? Mine is 13 hatch. Got weathertechs in both but wet okoles in my subaru only. When I finally get my truck back with the frame bullshit I'm debating wet okoles or in dash nav/backup camera. Or perhaps a new paint job.

 

I am currently deciding what I want to do with my seats as well. I can't decide to go with the okoles or katzkin.

Mine is a 2013 sedan. I use it almost purely for my 30-mile commute to work. The truck is used for just about everything else.

I do really like the Impreza though. I went with the Premium 5spd manual. As long as I live in a place that gets snow, I'm not sure that I'll ever own another 2WD car again. Not that I can't do it, but it's really nice having the AWD.

If the Legacys would have been getting the MPG numbers they're supposedly getting today two years ago, I'd have probably bought a Legacy.

 

Tearing the mesh is also a bit of a concern of mine. I figured cleaning them with that mesh would be tough, but things would catch on that mesh and wear it apart.

I guess maybe I'll order the Wet Okoles.

 

Hard to go wrong with Wet Okole, perfect in the Tacoma, will report back about the '15 WRX.

 

this. removed the driver's set last year when the fast food place dumped a milkshake in my lap and that saved me from a smelly mess. took em out, wiped em down, sprayed with the cleaner that came with them and good as new.

a damp rag tends to work best for me and the husky fur weaving its way under the fabric.

 

15 WRX..........I'm waiting for the return of the hatch then perhaps I'll pull the trigger as well. Always wanted one.

 

You won't regret it. I'd suggest getting them through autoanything.com . they will be the cheapest(outside of a group buy), if you use their 20% off code that can be found anywhere and also the fastest. One caveat from autoanything, you can only get basic covers (no piping or logos, heaters, gun pouches, ect) also, the don't sell the console cover.

Pro tip: if you order from auto anything, they take your order and pass it on to wet okole. They actually sell them cheaper than okole direct. So, after placing order with aa call wet okole direct and you can have them add console cover for $20 and any other option you want (such as heaters, gun pouches, piping, etc) for a nominal charge

 

Hatch is cool, sedan is where it's at IMO. The balance is just too good.

On my Impreza covers I had the map pockets and lumbar airbags added. This time the only thing I'm giving some slight consideration to is the gun pouch.

The interior of my truck is black and gray. I figure I'll go with black and charcoal covers. The charcoal looks a lot darker on the website, but in the pics I'm seeing it seems to match the Tacoma interior well.
