For dual batteries I run a CTEK Dual 250S. It's awesome. Fully and properly charges my aux battery using alternator or solar panels.

I went with the the IBS was done after a bit of research and the toss up was between IBS or Luna.
Just as you mention, notably for the safety of not stranding myself. The system will distribute the power equally when linked. The batteries are auto linked but will disconnect for safety reasons after 30 minutes but if needed, I also can manually link the batteries during prolonged and excessive drain situations such as winching, running the oba, long draws at camp, etc. from the comfort of the cab, I can also jump the main battery from the aux, main battery also gets the primary charge with the system, the last reason was to protect my electrical system from high spikes or low drains.
I liked the ability to monitor the batteries from the cab and control the battery source at the same time. There are some other options as well but these were the selling points for me.

For those that have been to the Overland Expo, any opinion on the getting the experience vs weekend pass? Is the experience pass worth the $$? Is there enough to do/see with the weekend pass?

Figure I should go, as it's not too far from phoenix!

 

I went the last 2 years it was 25$ per person I thought it was pricy... It's decently a awesome show there are activities I went around the whole thing in less then a day walking around at trucks parked also that was even better haha, but if you plan on staying all weekend the pass would be great, I'm camping in the woods 15 min away going for 1 day and enjoying the rest hope to see ya there

I went last year, and being my first time I just got the weekend pass, not the experience. I felt there was plenty to see and do without the classes, but I also had my family along with me. Classes looked cool, and from some of the guys I talked to they were very informative. One complaint I heard was the timing of the classes was very compacted, and they were basically going straight from class to class without time to check out the rest of the expo. If I go again I'd probably spring for a few classes, but it was an entirely fulfilling experience just being a spectator. And as Milota said, cruising around the campground checking out people's rigs was half the fun!

 

Going to Kenya in May for 10 days of Safaris (Game Drives) going to a few different Nation Parks there. I am hoping to see some sweet Land Cruisers there.

overland expo. I took the 4 kids and wife. Got food passes and camping. Honestly, ended up not taking ANY classes due to the children wanting to be social and checking out other things. I only did the experience, and got the wife a standard weekend pass.

Half the issue was I had to sign up for the classes online BEFORE the event. Yeah, NO. I didn't even know i missed out on the regs. The classes I wanted filled up super fast and by the time I realized. Was too late.

At the gate, they were a mess too. Turning people away from the camping areas, didn't have the shirts, Couldn't find my passes. It was the first EAST. Might have been the issue. Now that I know the process, I might try it again. Classes definitely were pretty tightly scheduled though.

 

Good to know. I'm trying to check it out this year

 

sign up for classes as soon as you are able to. That is the best advice I can give.
