Temporary scratch protection for sides of truck?

I have new 2015 DCSB. On occasion I will have need to take the truck up a particular dirt road. There is a 200' stretch (and a few other short stretches) that is narrow and lined on both sides with these really nasty, gnarly bushes that tend to pinstripe the full length of any truck that goes through there.

I'm trying to get some ideas on ways to protect both sides of my truck for this stretch.

One option would be to add clear bra type material to both sides of the truck. Probably would be very expensive considering what I paid just for the hood and other small areas.

Any ideas for temporary solutions? Something I could put on the sides at the base of the road and take off when I get back down later in the day. Maybe a 7 mile round trip never going over 20mph.

Maybe something magnetic that could be rolled up when not in use.

 

I'm sorry but how does this keep 200' of nasty bushes from scratching up the sides of the truck as I drive through?

 

Trim the bushes with a nice trimmer and fold in your mirrors. That would be the cheapest solution. If they are the neighbors he might even give you a few bucks to trim them if they are out of control.

 

The bushes are on BLM land.

 

Plasti-dip or vinyl wrap. Otherwise, trimming the brush might be your best bet. Light pinstrips can be removed with proper detailing and can be minimized by keeping a good coat of sealant on the vehicle. You can buy magnetic sheets but if there is any dirt on the vehicle, those can scratch the paint as well from constantly being applied and removed.

 

BLM? Sorry I'm from Canada, is the gov't land? Can you offer maintenance on the hedges? In Canada we can.

 

buy a cheap car cover, cut a hole on in the front so you can see out the windshield and put on before you go through the stretch. please pay pal me money for all the scratches i just saved you.

 

buy a ford when you need make that drive?

 

get some hard drive magnets (dead HDD's are easy to find)
or buy some magnets

get some sheets of thin canvas, sew in or glue on the magnets

roll it up and bring with you

unroll and attach yer new skirts to the truck, 8 magnets per side should do it

 

What about blue painters tape? I see people use them on their cars when on the track.

I'm surprised no one has suggested you Linex the whole truck. It looks pretty terrible IMHO but unlike a wrap it wouldn't peel after a few years.

 

Tough to get the 3 other guys and our 450 lbs of gear on a mountain bike.

This is probably what you want...heavy duty magnetic sheet you just put over top of your body work. Or just wear the 'pinstripes' with pride.
