I looked hard at a Nighthawk 1911 today. Wow.

 

Right? I remember when they first started building. They have always had their shit locked in. Absolutely fantastic.

 

As I recall the beginning was a mass exodus from Wilson? Not sure if that is accurate.

I have been eye fucking this gun for a couple weeks. Had I not bought a couple of 1911's this year already...
It is just a solid gun. The slide is like butter and reminds me of WC.
The model is the Commander and is just badass.

 

I dunno about mass.. But I think it was originally 3 guys. Don't quite remember the story.

 

Heard those smiths are no longer with Nighthawk either...I'd rather have a Wilson.

 

Anybody use a Hidden Hybrid holster? I was looking at all different brands of holsters and right now I don't have my CC permit but I'm hoping to do the course at the end of the month and then apply for it and I from what I heard it takes about 45 days for me to actually get my permit. Anyway, so I was thinking about buying a OWB holster for now and then a IWB holster for after I get my CC, I was researching and looking at youtube and saw the Hidden Hybrid which can actually be worn both ways. Are these a good holster for the money? Originally was looking Aliengear but some like and some think they are cheaply made.

If you're a slim kind of fellow, you can probably get away with carrying OWB. For years, I've carried my Glock 19 in a Raven Concealment Systems Phantom. Great holster that conceals well, despite being OWB. For me (6' even, 175 pounds), I'm able to conceal with nothing more than a t-shirt. Their mag pouches are awesome, too. They're pretty much the gold standard in kydex.

Yeah that might help. I've got a M&P Shield. I'm about 5'7" and 162 pounds

 

I started out carrying IWB and hated it; it's so uncomfortable, IMO. I tried multiple different holsters, locations, and guns, but I just could deal with the damn gun jamming into my side, back, or groin. It's not so bad when standing up, but as soon as I'd get in my truck or sit down to eat, I'd constantly be shifting around. I started using a Fobus OWB holster about a year ago and it's so much better. I forget it's there sometimes. I don't like to walk around showing my gun off either, so I always keep my shirt over it in the warmer weather or keep my jacket over it in the winter.

Haha CA is a joke when it comes to guns. My fiancee has family in Huntington Beach and last time they came here, we took them shooting in our field and they couldn't stop taking pics of the AR's It's good to be in the South

 

IIRC, they founded Nighthawk. I'd think if they migrated elsewhere, Nighthawk would have closed out or been sold/transferred to other parties.

I'll have to look into it for my own curiosity. I've never been a big Wilson fan.

HK has earned its spot as my favorite handgun builder. I sleep next to a .45c nightly.
From the mag release, perfect balance, quality to clean shooting they trump all imo.

I think it's the same couple guys doing work. They hired some PR but, think that was the extent of the new faces.

 

I saw their team intro'd on the website, but all actual info I found said it was the same 3 founders from WC runnin' the joint, but I'm not active on the 1911 forums anymore so who knows.

I walked into a gun shop to buy a USP. But I really didn't like it, tried the P2000, same thing. Ended up with Glock. HKs are not for me, except a full auto, silenced MP5.

 

The p2ksk seems like the perfect size for a carry gun but FN recently came out with their compact models...and considering my favorite gun of mine is my FNS9, it seems logical to get the 9c.

It's all old news. If you do some searching the latest threads are from 2012ish. I have no doubt NH makes quality guns, however a factor which I look for in a firearm is the maker's history. WC has been around now for 37+ years.
