    You're such a tease. :pout:

Well... yes. However, such an endeavor requires strict adherence to a diet of ramen noodles and abstinence from anything remotely considered as a 'relationship' with women. Time and mod monies are few and far between as it is. :anonymous:

Anyone care to take a crack at explaining this one for me?

I'm modifying the valve cover for cleaning purposes, and noticed the rear portion under the oil baffle appears to have a significant amount of burnt oil on the surface as opposed to the front.

I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the orientation of the engine or perhaps the coolant route through the head? Since there's no sort of division along the valve train itself, I'm leaning more towards the idea that it has something to do with the EFI crap. Thoughts?

I'm curious too. I know that rear cylinders will tend to run a bit hotter on an air cooled engine, like a V-twin. I suppose it could happen with liquid cooled too as the coolant makes it's way through the water jacket and gets warmer.

But, that is a pretty significant difference you're showing there. :notsure:

I know on my supra, the EGR port was on the back of the intake manifold. This meant the rear two cylinders ran a tad hotter and got that same coloration. Wouldn't be suprised if that's the same on the 3rz.

EFI has nothing to do with it though.

Yeah whoops, I meant EGR. The EGR port is indeed on the rearmost section of the intake manifold. Also, the PCV valve is also on the rear section of the valve cover as well.

It most definitely is. The new head should be shipped back this week. As if that matters, since it's gonna be a long while until the rest of the parts are installed.

Do you think it'd be better to remove the PCV and EGR?

Also Jon, thanks for all your help this weekend. Definitely couldn't do this shit alone.

    That's why then.

You can delete the EGR. It'll make the rear most piston run a bit hot if the exhaust is routed like the 7mgte through the cylinder head. But won't kill it.

New parts are new parts

Keep it wrapped up in saran wrap. Spray it with wd40 before you wrap it lightly too. Then when your ready use a shit load of brake clean on it.

I'll work on it tonight! Promise.
