If you throw out insults on enough threads here maybe one of them will stick. I hope you feel better IRL than you sound like you do on here, for your own sake.

Damn, way to take your fight to the masses [IMG]

After driving a Chevy 2500 LB 4X4 for over 200K miles and buying a Taco. I'm on my second Taco now. I still own a Chevy but its a classic. Plus you'll still see me walking the Chevy lot but not sure if I'll ever go back from a Taco. My bro drives an Escalade. Its one sweet ride but its also got more than its fair share of visits to the dealership with only 60K on the clock. Just an opinion from someone who has owned both and whom might not be smart enough to realize his intelligence level is below the modest level.

Well, got a call from a buddy yesterday. He'd been wanting a Tacoma for the last 3 years but couldn't wait any longer. Yesterday he put down a deposit on a new Chevy Colorado in laser blue. Can't say I blame him. Toyota hasn't exactly been forthcoming with info since the unveiling...

Haven't seen that, it's a good read. Thanks for sharing.

"The Tacoma’s braking power is lacking compared to the other two trucks, and that’s no surprise as it is the truck in the group still equipped with drum brakes on the rear axle – a fact that was not lost on us while towing down-hill."

Hhhmmm, the all-mighty rear drums didn't perform as well as the Colorado towing down hill, interesting.

The Offroad magazine guys were pretty impressed with the Colorado overall, but they mentioned offroad it was not so good.

I'm sure the 2016 Taco will better it offroad even in SR5 trim. Plus the new Taco will probably have a quieter cabin than the Gen2, I believe Toyota mentioned that was an objective.

Plus the Taco will have heated seats, heated mirrors, dual zone climate control (Z71 Chevy nor Canyon has dual zone nor heated mirrors).

Edmunds has a longterm road test of a Z71 DCSB going since last November http://www.edmunds.com/chevrolet/colorado/2015/long-term-road-test/

They're over 7k miles on it now, avging 17.5 mpg. Note that they were given "invoice price" by their local dealer - $35,357. That's pretty steep for an 8.3 inch ground clearance vehicle, no ATRAC, no inverter, Rancho shocks on the Z71, front air dam has 15 bolts to remove it (approach angle only 18 degrees with it on).

Sure seems to me just the SR5 4WD 2016 Tacoma will match or better a Z71 in amenities, quiet cabin, power, offroad, towing.

It's not really a fair comparison either. Your pitting a BAJA against a regular old Z71 Colorado, to be fair it should have been a TRD off road or sport, the BAJA is a special edition designed for off road which they highlight the shock travel etc.

Yes, a Tacoma TRD offroad would have been a better comparison, but I think if they would have pitted a 2015 SR5 4WD Tacoma against the Z71 the SR5 Tacoma would still have been better offroad.

The extra inch of stock ground clearance is nice, and on rocky roads you don't want your rear shock lower mounts hanging in the middle of the axle.

I don't know why GM did that with the rear shocks. Kind of a pain but you could move them inboard. There was a kit from Solo Motorsports, for the 1st gen Tacos.

Actually they do have heated mirrors on the LT and SLT trims.

That is a bold claim that a SR5 will meet or beat a Z71 in all those regards without even having sat in one let alone driven one...

Exactly, every comparison I have seen pits the Baja/TRD Pro against the Z71. All that does is give the Tacoma less a chance on the street tests and puts the Chevy behind on the off road tests. How hard is it to grab a TRD Offroad or TRD Sport and compare on all surfaces?

Would like to see the Colorado with OEM Kings go up against the Baja, or even the Pro.

I am little surprise GM chose the Kings.

Well, we just bought an F150 for the wife. The price tag for an F150 V8 XLT XTR 4x4 was only 1K less after haggling than a Colorado, and I'm not sure the GM dealer would of came even close to the trade in we got from Ford on our Hyundai.

Left over '14 or a new '15? Ford is blowing out the '14's right now.

2015, aka the "Atlas". One of my customers owns the dealer and was determined to put a Ford in my driveway.

I'm generally very laid back and easy to get along with. However, if someone talks to me like I'm an idiot, it usually doesn't go over all that well. Lecturing someone as if they have no understanding of bias or objectivity is an insult, which you initiated.

Yeah, I went a little overboard.

If someone tries to treat me like I'm an idiot and speak to me condescendingly, I tend to get a little irritable. Sterdog did as much, in which I responded. I admit my response was a little over the top, though.

I will admit that I do occasionally take things too personally, and sometimes need to lighten up. As I've said in other threads, bias is expected in any forum dedicated to a specific brand. Having said that, the about of bias and fanboys on this site goes above and beyond the norm. Good products certainly attract fans, and the Tacoma is certainly a good product. I just need to accept it and let it go.
