    I have a question about the books .

    I know the storylines aren't identical and without going into the story differences or blurting out possible spoilers , if I bought the first 2 compendiums , does that get me up to about this point in the tv show ? Before ? After ?

    I think you are about at issue 69-70ish in the comics at this point. So about 21 issues into the 2nd Compendium.
    imo, I would just start and pass the tv series. I find reading seeing a movie prior to reading is more of a spoiler. Reading a book enhances the movie exp for me....fills the blanks, so to speak.

    Exactly. About 21 or so issues into the 2nd.
    You'll find that some of the info/scenes have already aired past issue 21 and some of the earlier than issue 21 scenes have not but, I'm sure will air within the next few episodes.
