I think you would want the heated seats on their own relays. As you have laid it out both seats would start heating when either of the switches are on. I don't see any issue with the amperage, just the functionality. One relay would have no way of isolating the voltage to the driver and passenger seats.

Actually now that I have looked into things a bit more I understand what you were saying Up. Ive never used a relay before so was a bit confused. But I do see how my orginal idea of one relay wouldn't work

The relay to switch and everything wiring would look something like this


On the OTRATTW switches where do people get power for Pin 2 (incoming from fused source)? Just tap into a only on with ignition fuse? (add a tap)

 

To be honest I had the OEM setup in mind when replying. If your aftermarket switches that control the heated seats can safely handle that kind of current then there would be a way to make them both work off of only 1 relay. Usually a relay is used because the switch can't handle the amperage, or to avoid running larger diameter wires into the cab. The wire size wouldn't be so much of a concern here but the switch rating may be.

 

The OTRATTW switches are rated for 20a 12v. So they should work.
Even so I think using a relay for each might be simpler and easier.

Looks like you got it now. You could run each heated seat on its own relay, or if you are comfortable funning the full amperage through the switches then you could just run each of them from a fused source and not use up any relays for the task. Skygears box would easily allow for either option.

As far as an incoming fused source for the switch are you looking to get one of skygears boxes? If so I believe he incorporates a fused lead for switches (don't have a box myself but looking into one for when he takes more orders). If not then yes as you say you would use an add a fuse tapped into accessory switched power source from your fuse box.

 

That is true and something i might consider in the feature. Right now i would probably use the relay just cause. But if i added something else in the feature i could rewire it

Im actually probably going to build my own. Itll be like Skygears but will be wired exactly how i want it. Not that skygear cant do that. I just like spending money, cursing, struggling, try to figure things out, then wish i would have bought the premade one

 

Wow, 72 pages. Looks like I have a lot of reading and a lot of learning to do.

Here's what I want, I'm not sure if this is the best way to do it.
I have a couple light bars, and want to add a couple more, bed lights, etc.
I want to be able to plug those bars into the box.
Run power from the battery to the box.
OTTRAW switches from the cab run to box to independently turn each light on/off.
One master on/off switch to control power to switch panel, and act as a master off to prevent lights from accidentally turning on/draining battery.

Can this do that?

You know what a bread board is right? all these boxes are to put it as simply as I can is a bread board for fuses and relays.



so they take the box/ bread board, and throw a sticker over it. I simply poke a hole in the sticker for the 5th pin.

I ran everything on my factory battery for 8-9 years till it finally died. That is a you decision. I would say, change up to better components as money allows.

I wish i had gotten 8 years out of my battery! I got like 2.5 years. Thankfully it was covered under warrenty. Course rather than giving me a new battery they paid to have my truck towed there to replace it themselves
