Nothing too technical, just a chrome bug shield. They say it's for bugs, but I got it to protect the leading edge of the hood. :D

The ones on the windows -you have to be a smoker to understand why they're useful.

Hood shield is supposed to deflect bugs away from your windshield when you're up at speed.

I've had bug shields on all my trucks for at least the past 12 years. No paint chips or even a broken shield so far. I like the lack of hood chips though. No rusty spots from rocks hitting the front edge of the hood.

I have heard/read/absorbed that the window deflector deals that fit into the channel work the best. Only problem is it flattens the rubber at that spot and if you ever try to remove them you now have a loose window in the channel. The stick on ones work but they are stick on. I smoke and the windows/doors with no lip does make it rather difficult to crack a window in the rain while not moving.

Bug deflector: I bought one and it is still in the wrap/box up in the attic. I just can't bring myself to install it after I have heard about the paint chipping and the paint rubbing and the hood looks like it's about ready to fly by itself, etc.

No flames intended, just some thoughts on the deflector ideas. :)

I buddy of mine at work thought I got a custom grill when he first saw the deflector. It does seem to blend in.

I've got a 94 s10 blazer with a hood shield and its amazing. Went to visit the parents this weekend and they live in Mississippi farm country. Lots of bugs. Grill and headlights are covered in bugs while the windshield only has a couple of the bigger ones that didn't get pushed up.

Will be one of the first mods I will do when I get my Tacoma.
