Hey, everybody. I've got a 2001 Extracab Prerunner. Sometimes while driving, my gas pedal will basically become stuck in the up position and I have to push it with some decent force to depress it and make it respond. It's most noticeable at intersections when I'm stopped and want to accelerate again. Sometimes I end up making the truck lurch forward because when I finally push the pedal with enough force to free it up and allow it to move again, the engine suddenly revs pretty high.
Is there anyone else out there with a similar problem and ideas or solutions? I'm about to go out to my truck and see if I can see any hindrances in the pedal mechanism or the throttle body. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

all there is from the pedal to throttle body is 1 cable.

I replaced mine from the dealer last year cause i was out of useable tension to adjust.

Pull it off the truck and check it for kinks or breaks, I would just replace it anyways as a new one will be nice and tight with adjustably out of the package.

Also check the butterfly inside your throttle body for gunk or debris that would cause it to stick.

it comes apart with 4 bolts and a few little hoses, check the front and back, get a new crush gasket from the dealer before you do this.

Give it a good cleaning first before you tinker with the cable.

I'd bet money that this will fix your problem. I had the exact problem you described and tried lubing all the linkages with no luck. Opened the butterfly valve and there was a thin line of black gunk all around the edge.
I used a toothbrush and a can of seafoam but had to let it soak a bit because of how much there was. Sticky pedal gone

Any update on this? I am experiencing the same problem. Also...if you replaced the crush gasket...part number?

I had the firewall break where the throttle cable comes through all kind of interesting throttle issues

Because it is under the carpet we all tend to never think of it.
