Tundra Brake swap parts # question

    just wanted to make sure before I drop a lot of money on all this. found some calipers off e-bay from a 2006 tundra, stamped 13WL (231mm) see a lot of people using 2003-2005 tundra brakes...2006 is still the same correct?
    plan on rebuilding them (cleaning them up, painting and new seals etc)

    Can't verify part numbers, but chiming in to say that the 2006 calipers 13WL are exactly what you're looking for (that's what I'm running on my '04 Tacoma). The wheeler's lines will be perfect and make the job a truly bolt-on mod.

    I bought the same rotors, pads and shims from Toyota and purchased rebuilt calipers from NAPA. Got my info from this thread: Decided to go with the Wheelers brake line kit as well. This thread helped confirm that they would work with the Tundra calipers: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/1st-gen-tacomas/240112-tundra-brakes-03-tacoma.html

    Ya i perused most (or all) those threads.
    My biggest question was about the 2006 tundra calipers since evrything else would be ordered based off those. Gonna call toyota tomorrow to confirm the rest of the list.

    The LCE kit also includes two short hard brake lines as well as brake line spindle brackets. I'm getting ready to do that mod as well and need to find these items. I'm guessing they might be dealer items.

    Did the swap a few weeks ago and am very happy with the outcome. Only issue I ran into was a bad front left caliper. After I replaced it under warranty, the brakes have been squeal free.

    The only thing needing any modification are the dust shields. We had to trim the dust shields at each end of the caliper. Also, we bent the dust shields back in places that touched the rotor. Other than that, it was a bolt on affair.

    Calipers, rotors, pads and shim kit were ordered based on a 2005 Tundra. Wheeler's lines were ordered for a 2002 Tacoma:

    No. Not with the Wheeler's lines I went with (Tacoma specific, banjo fitting).

    Also, on my friends 99 (3rd gen) 4runner. He was able to use his stock hard lines with 4runner specific (inline fitting) Wheeler's ss brake lines. I'd assume the hard lines in the LCE kit are either from the 4runner or Tundra? Do they mention which calipers they use? 13WG, 13WL?

    In summary, here's how the two (my Tacoma and my buddy's Runner) are setup...

    Tacoma = ss line from bracket on frame, through bracket on knuckle, directly to Tundra caliper via banjo fitting

    4Runner = ss line from bracket on frame to bracket on knuckle, then the hard line from knuckle to caliper via inline fitting

    Did the swap about 16 months ago with the LCE kit hard lines, SS Lines, and calipers. I bought Toyota factory rotors locally (shipping cost+++ and tired of aftermaket rotors which do not last), all of the parts in the kit were factory parts except the S.S. lines. One the best upgrades to the truck, it now has brakes like it should of had from the factory and I have no fear of towing my motorcycle trailer.

    I wish I could find a pic showing the conversion with the hard lines. I can't visualize why some installs can just use the stainless braided lines.

    I think it helps with brake squeal and aligning the brakes up, not sure if it's necessary
