Hey everone, I just saw this interesting tfl truck video on youtube. They took a 2015 tacoma and ran it WOT uphill with a max load behind it for almost 9 minutes. I was actually impressed how well it did.

Sorry, I forgot there is a towing section. If the mods feel this thread should be moved then please do.

    Yup!!! Lol

I like how they said "it's truck like, unlike the canyon/Colorado which are very car like"

    Hahaha

I wouldn't do that to my truck... 5k for 9 min...

Ya I wouldn't do that to my truck either. I was half expecting the motor to take a dump at the end lol. That's why I love toyota though! I would be curious to see oil, trans, and other temps right after that run

that motor would have no issue running all day like that....

the colorado was at like 6k rpms that entire way up.... that i would worry about.

And this channel is so full of fail.... they make it seem like its always a 4x4 if its a trd... wrong axle ratio... and they tell ya it doesnt come with a locking diff as if its not an option at all.... so much fail

The Tacoma may not have the most horsepower but it is geared correctly to tow and accelerate as good as trucks with more powerful engines.

He said it doesn't have a "Tow/Haul mode".

Meaning a selectable engine tune/ transmission setting. Pretty sure it has the tow package.

I doubt there would be any spikes. They were only at 4800 rpm. The Tacoma V6 towing with tow package will run at that rpm all day long, uphill, downhill, offroad, in 4WD or 2WD.

I was surprised they didn't choose a tow package vehicle. Interesting still.

I find it funny how people wouldn't dare tow near recommended limits for fear of something breaking, I can remember on multiple occasions my dad towing near 10,000lbs (trailer+kubota tractor+ATV+fuel and supplies) on a 2000 toyota tundra, which was well above the tow limit and that vehicle is still running. im not saying thats recommended, im just saying you shouldn't be concerned about breaking your truck when you are towing within its recommended tow rating.

A little disappointing to me. First the truck was not fully loaded for towing. It was short between 8 and 9 hundred pounds. That is a lot. Nearly half a ton. Second they really did not give a lot of information. No MPG which they could have done like we all do it, no transmission temp, which they should have added something to keep track of it, no water temperature information, and no comparison information with other vehicles of like size.

Lastly I would be interested in what they do with that truck after it is returned. Do they sell it and tell the customer what has been done to it. Personally I would not want it after being treated that way even for only 8 plus minutes. If it was a standard it would be different, but not an auto. Also I would like to see what one does with a SC on it fully loaded and one tested with a manual transmission Supercharged and non Supercharged. In the end not a great test in my opinion.

oh its a horribly stupid "test" comparison.

That stated... id have no problems buying that truck with how it was driven... that motor is fine.

They clearly have no idea what the f they are talking about, that we know for a fact.

Just a couple idiots driving a vehicle and hitting a stop watch.
