For me, 6 rounds in a defensive weapon doesn't cut it, which is why I wouldn't carry a revolver either at least as a primary CCW. You can load yourself with spare mags, but if a few extra bullets allows me to stop a threat without the need to reload then I am all the better for it. I'd rather have that extra second to be glad I survived than spend it on a mag change (if I don't fuck it up under life or death stress) in the middle of bullets being possibly exchanged or whatever other situation that would require lethal force.

Just my thoughts on why I said what I said.

My XDS.45 is 6+1 and from the pictures it looks like it may be a bit slimmer too. Seems like glock didn't try to maximize the design very well. I remember people saying the 42 was thicker than it needed it to be when it came out.

I imagine the 43 being an option for me, when I'm in shorts and a t-shirt and don't feel like carrying a full size. An empty 43 is less than half the weight of an empty 1911.

Or, I just thought of it, this might be a good option for a carry gun while out running.

I'm thinking the XDs 9 may still be the best option in this category.

I don't know if I'll ever go for a subcompact. My daily carry is a g19 with an Insight X2. It the smallest thing I can carry and still feel comfortable fighting with. I hate the idea of grabbing my pistol and wishing I had brought something else (other than an AR and Friends with ARs)

I don't even love Glocks and I figure I'll end up with a 43. Could be a cool little suppressor host once the inevitable threaded barrels come online.

I think it's too small for me. I have a 2 finger grip with my shield, and it's .25 in taller than the g43....it'd be like a 1.5 finger grip haha

Is that with the pinky extension on the mag? I've considered a Shield 9mm. I think it feels better in my hand than an XDS, I prefer the smoother texture for carry. Made in the USA is also a big bonus over the XDS.

The shield is the business. Love the way it feels for a relatively small gun.

With the extended mag it's the same height as a g19

Anyway, speaking of 9mm, I may have to pick up a model 986 L frame SW revolver. Seems like it would be a kick to shoot with the low recoil on the giant frame and I love revolvers.
