Tacktic smacktics. IMO they are doing their job.

41% of fatal crashes involved alcohol. For fatal crashes occurring from midnight to 3 a.m., 76% involved alcohol.(1)



It goes back to look at what you are able to control. Anytime after mid night there are typically so few drivers on the road. Have you ever seen the stats of impaired drivers past midnight? I don't have the stats but I've seen them before and I know they are high.

All 'other things being equal' doesn't exist after midnight - especially on weekends!

 

I know Police use these tactics because i'm sure they work.
Somebody might say, If you don't want to get pulled over for minor infractions because of police tactics to check if you are driving drunk, don't drive between 1-3am. Don't remove your mud flaps, don't tint your front windows...
Now how can i avoid being pulled over at 2pm when this sheriff is around if i look mexican? I cannot choose to look any different. While on the other hand, removing mud flaps, front window tint, loud music is all up to you...

IF this sheriff would pull people over for minor infractions without taking into account ethnicity and at the time of asking for DL & insurance, would check for citizenship, then i'm ALL for it.

 

I respect your opinion but I think your jumping the gun and you are assuming/accusing what really isn't happening.
Such as: (i don't agree with this guy racially profiling people and looking for a reason to pull a mexican over to see if he's an illegal alien.)
In this day and age of lawyers everywhere, ACLU, and an extremely leftest media, there is no way he would be able to do that even if he wanted too. They would be on that department like flies on poop.

Himself and his department are pulling people over because of car violations, driver infractions, and so on and so fourth. Most of the time when police officers pull people over they can't even see the person in the car, let alone what race they are.
If the cops pulled over a person who was wanted for killing people in your block and fits the description of the killer, wouldn't you hope the cops would check to see if he's wanted? If they pull over a person who just happens to be of Mexican decent who doesn't have a driver license, no I.D., no SSN of any kind and can't speaking a lick of English near the border, would you want the cops to check this guy out to see what he's up to and anyone else? Chances are he's illegally in this country without proper papers, which last time I checked was illegal.

If some Danish or Italian person tried the same thing I would be mad as hell at them and would want them to go to jail for illegally coming to this country, and by the way, I'm half Danish and Italian.

But if they are trying to pull people over because of their race, than that is real wrong and I do not support that!

 

I'm kinda sad that I work for DHS right now. This guy had it right...It's hard to "Save our jobs from illegals" without racial profiling. Most illegal aliens are Mexican...That's the way it is. Sorry if some legal, tax paying, contributing citizens get caught in the effort- but in the end it sent more illegals home than harm it caused to other folks.

Before I get to hot about it...I have to remember that I'm white and upper-middle class...so I don't get to say more without being labeled a bigot.

 

I completely agree with you. Maybe i read the Original post the wrong way. If the cop sees a mexican driver and then starts to look for violations in order to get him pulled over with a "legit" reason just so that he can check for citizenship, then it's wrong.
Now if the cop pulls somebody over for violations AND THEN checks for citizenship, I agree 100% he should do that.

Agreed. mexican is nationality. From what it sounds like, Hispanic is your ethnicity. You're an American with a Hispanic background. Just like I'm an American with Japanese background (moms full blown crazy traditional japanese from tokyo).

Your right, only pull over someone if they have a violation or did something like speeding or whatever. If they are looking for the race of someone, and than try to find a reason to pull them over than that is 110% wrong!

To be honest, it doesn't really bother me all that much because i don't get pulled over very often *knock on wood*. I just feel it's unfair that innocent people get caught in the effort. But we all know Life is unfair and innocent people pay for the criminals all the time.

I've always been a Corona guy but these past few times i've gone down to Mexico i've bought this beer called "barrilitos" (Translation= Small Barrels). It's a short, stubby brown bottle that is actually made by Corona and I'm liking it. Smooth taste, and none of the after taste that Corona has.

 

this pisses me off so fucking bad! the term is ILLEGAL immigrants. I can't help but feel that its kind of funny that people even make the comment that " Those illegals are stealing our jobs!!!" Back when the economy was good, nobody gave a rat's ass about the jobs they took since about 95% of them were dishwashers, burger cooks, and other jobs that you never see white middle class or even white working class kids working at. But now that things are bad- ohhh we better get after those illegals for those jobs. Hypocritical if you ask me.
