On the bike I return a wave if I see the other person waving early enough. I don't initiate waves but I'm not such a dick I won't return them.

In the Tacoma I do wave sometimes, but it is more of a joke. I always thought the word "tatanka" as used by Kevin Costner in Dances With Wolves sounded like "Tacoma", and he makes this "antlers on head" gesture to communicate "tatanka" (bison) to the Indians. I started muttering "Tacoma" and doing the antler thing when I would pass another one. My wife finds it amusing.

I don't wave at all. Should I get waved at or I know the other driver, I will just stare. No wave. What can I say, I am just a grumpy old man.

Wow this was very informative. I've only waved at a few tacos in my city. I live in San diego and most navy guys have a taco or ram 1500. I tend to only wave at the modded or same color tacos. Does TW have window decals to buy? That would make it easier to spot some friends? I saw a jk down my street with a JK forum stick across the window.

You're in San Diego, according to your profile. Nobody from around here waves to each other in the city unless they actually know them, because it would be ridiculous with over 3M people on the road to wave at strangers.

However, if you drive in the back country on a dirt road, it's very common to wave at other drivers on the trail.

So the answer to your question is, it depends on where you are and what you're doing.

    True for me.
If I'm on the trail I pretty much wave at everyone. Jeeps, Toyotas, Trucks, quads, dirt bikes, hunters, hikers, whatever. I usually stop and chat too.
On the street is a different story.

back in the day, jeeps were offroad enthusiasts and kind of a local club cult feel.

I owned an 89 YJ for 5 years and it was the worst vehicle I have ever owned as far as reliability. it left me stranded waiting for a flat bed tow truck 5 times... and the gas mileage... holy crap 13 mpg was a good day...

When you saw another jeep you waved.. Toyotas are a dime a dozen especially the second gen Tacoma flavor..

    I see easily 25 Tacoma's for 1 jeep anymore.

So no the jeep wave is pretty much dead and non existent with newer Tacoma's.

On the trails you wave to everyone.. on the street I ignore everyone.

I get thumbs up allot. Like the other day from a dodge. Alrigggght... most tacoma drivers around here at least are stuck up assholes and don't wave or give you a thumbs up. Which really hurts me deep down. Emotional problems

Yes, there is one, because I have seen a couple trucks around the forum with them, but I can't help you with the finding one part.

I always get the Jeep wave when driving my FJ40, then they see I'm not a Jeep and get embarrassed. Should I wave back?

HELL NO!!! Waving would be validating that their Jeep is as cool as your FJ40. Have you got any pictures?

As far as waving, I always wave to police, firemen/women, as a token of my appreciation for the work they do.

When I see another Tacoma, I give the Tacoma a powerful stare and the person behind the wheel an approving nod.

So much hate in this thread. I had a CJ-7 and the wave was daily thing for me, whether I wanted it or not... It was always uplifting if I was having a down day. No Taco wave happening. Yet

its comradery, were all out together havin a good time doin the same thing.

I for sure wave at other modded tacos, not the stock ones cuz they dont give a shit about what theyre driving.

I also wave on my bike, but its not like you gotta make a big deal out of it, you just throw out a couple fingers.
