The cross bars can all be moved, so it won't block the sunroof. I'm not a roofrack guy either, but legitimately needed one in this case. This rack is sweet.

Those gullwing doors are cool I couldn't use them for a couple reasons. My kids ride in the back and so I need the windows, but even if I was using the rear of the truck for gear, my truck is too tall for those to be practical. I wouldn't be able to reach anything anyway. I think that's going to be the case with just about any lifted 80, unless the owner is very tall or you only want to access something close to the opening.

I thought the same thing. I just have an OME 2.5" on 33's and it would be a stretch to access. Plus mine is always muddy. My dog likes the sliding windows anyhow.

The earlier FJ80 (like my '91) has the 3FE motor, which is bombproof but not a lot of power. It's enough to merge onto the freeway at speed, but just barely. There are plenty of newer ones for sale with the bigger motor that have had the known weakness repaired already, namely the head gasket and pesky heater hose. The transmissions for both motors are very reliable. There are many examples pushing 500,000 miles, and it would be hard to find a more reliable solid axle platform.

I have never heard of a single instance of a failed transmission in one of these.

I'm stoked beyond words at how well my new PrInSu Designs roofrack turned out for the Land Cruiser. Mine was the first one Zach Scott has built for an 80 series so there was a bit of iteration along the way but man it is exactly like I had hoped. Love it. Now it's time to throw the Tepui Tent up there. This is a major photo dump since this is a rack for Cruisers that hasn't been on the market 'til now, and I'm sure there will be questions. So I'll post as many photos as possible to show details that will hopefully address most of the questions.

You should see the clearance on that one. 1/8" I was a little worried at first but it should work great for accessories and such.

For now the maxtrax are strapped down with a ratchet strap. I used the little tie down loops at the corners of the ramps to kinda wedge them in place which actually held them pretty well, but then put a strap around them.

He's working on it, but having a hard time coming up with mounting solutions, I hope he figures something out, that could potentially jump priority over onboard air for me

coolant temps have been a bit warm for my liking. Replaced the fan clutch and drive belts last night. Looking to do a preventative HG replacement this week.

Head gasket seems to be shot so it's getting torn down and replaced this week. Hopefully have it all back together in time for my trip to Easter Jeep Safari next weekend. Otherwise I'll be down there in the Tacoma. If any of you are going to EJS, I'll be set up with a Tepui display at the Gearheads store on Mainstreet. Come say hello and check out the tents.

The HG is a somewhat common failure on that motor, but it's more a matter of neglect than anything. If you stay on top of the cooling system then it's not likely to have HG issues. My '93 FZJ80 I just sold has ~300K miles on it and never had HG issues.

As for Gearheads. We (Tepui) have been courting them for the past year as a potential retail location. This next weekend during EJS is a bit of a test run to allow them to see what kind of interest the tents generate during the event.

Awesome truck. When reading your Tacoma build page, I was almost ready to get myself one. Since reading this new build I am not so sure. How different is the handling and capabilities between the Tacoma and 80?

Are you going to be camping in their lot, or at least staying fairly late? I remember a lot of evening traffic downtown between all of the food, bars, motels, and the Jeep display. A well lit orange Tepui ought to draw some people.
