Wow, looks like I got ripped off compared to some of the deals you guys got. I paid $1695 for 7 years/ 75,000 miles when I bought my 2014. My extended warranty is through a company called First Extended Service Corp. Does anyone else have a warranty like this or do you have yours through Toyota? I got the warranty through the dealership at the time of purchase so if Toyota does offer their own I am not sure why I didn't get that one. Oh well, too late to worry about it now.

IMHO this is EXACTLY the first step buyers should take if they're going to build a dealer-buyer relationship. Use Toby/equivalent prices to cut a deal even if a bit more; maybe even better deal if financed/not out-of-pocket.

Then if they don't budge you have a fallback.

Check with them on a refund: Say you're not comfortable on their coverage (probably shouldn't be) and not sure the company will offer the same coverage as the VSP. If they balk, say you're dissapointed you were steered to a non Toyota warranty and need your money back. Maybe that'll move them to at least cut a good-customer deal to replace it with a VSP.
Think it over; but for a new vehicle sold at a Toyota dealer, pushing a non VSP is something to double check and look at your options.
    Good Luck.

Answer: yes and numerous times; I buy my cars out of state (Md.) due to dealer selection and best internet stated price. Also alot of dealers in my area have a 'processing fee' of six hundred or more and out of state it's about two hundred. Until recently my warranty purchases were from Jerry in Kansas, over the phone. NEVER a problem for warranty work in Virginia.
No the selling dealer of the agreement is irrelevant to which dealer you use for service. (Otherwise you'd have a bunch of pissed-off military members!!)

Are you still under Factory warranty ?? If So, Nothing wrong with checking the "Out" clause in you current agreement and get another.

Yes, I am still under the factory warranty. I guess I should have looked into it a little bit more before buying the truck but you guys are right, it might not be a bad idea to cancel and try to get a new warranty or at least get some money back. The dealership didn't mention any options (platinum, basic, non-toyota, etc.) and I was given the impression that the warranty I bought was the only one available.

Ive been out of town and have not had the chance to make any calls. The fact that some have you have used the out of state purchased VSP gives me confidence in the plan, Im satisfied at this point. Good feed back guys. That's what this site is all about.

The out of state rule doesn't make sense. There's plenty of people who buy cars from out of state. So you are saying they can't sell warranty to those people? It sounds like fear mongering to me.

I don't believe it is so much related to out of state as it has to do with the way the dealers sell the plans. I believe you can walk into ANY dealer and buy the plan. They do not want you or the dealers to a support easy shopping around ( i.e. Phone or internet sales / competition)

Just bought my truck. I was quoted $1595 for 7/120 and $1395 for 6/75. I turned them both down. I'm betting I can do better elsewhere if I decide to get it.

Just some dumb regular crap everyone else has
I paid $899 for an 8yr/75K platinum warranty through Toyota of Waldorf. They have a 100% refund policy if you never use your warranty. You have to apply for your warranty refund within a certain amount of days before the warranty ends, and again, this only applies if you've never used it. I took a chance on it, so we'll see what happens in 7.5 years from now...

I just paid $1500 for Toyota platinum 7 year 100k. I know from here I could have done better but it was fairly easy to get them to that price and I was satisfied. They started at $2300

Make sure you read the small print. Some of these warranties include lock out, emergency gas, battery jump, etc. and sometimes using these services count as a use and even though you didn't have a repair it counts. To my knowledge the Toyota factory warranties don't include refunds if not used, maybe your dealer offers this above and beyond or it might not be a Toyota VSA. Just a heads up, would be a shame IMO to lose a nice refund for a battery jump.

It was a little less than $5 a month extra on payments over 7 years.

    5 x 12 x 7 = $ 420
