My truck was a few hundred below invoice. Dealers do not pay invoice, and it is possible to buy a vehicle at or slightly below invoice. Invoice is the dealers price before hold back and other additional incentives are provided to them. They want you to think that's what they pay but it isn't.

You should be able to at least get your truck out the door after TTL, at or slightly below the MSRP sticker price. If the final price is above MSRP sticker price, with TTL added in, then shop around.

That thread is only semi useful as most people just say a price, don't mention what fees if any includes, don't mention options and rarely state what the MSRP of their configuration is.

As a result you get people with TRD OR Prerunnners with seemingly low prices. And you get people who were $400 below invoice but got charged a $600 "documentation fee" or some other dealer BS.

That said, you can in the right geographic area get a quite good deal with the right dealer. It looks like there are legit deals more than $2K below MSRP including all dealer BS fees.

If you go TrueCar or Costco you should end up at at least $1.5K below MSRP *including* BS fees from the dealer. Meaning you are just paying tax and titling above that. Dealers will add a "documentation fee" or a "theft registration fee" or some other BS. Count that as part of the price.

So 1.5K below MSRP is a pretty standard price through a buying service. And you might be able to go lower.

As to the delivery fee that is included in the MSRP of all Toyota trucks - i.e. it is on the "window sticker". BS fees are things like "documentation fee" or "theft registration fee" or such. Just because I call them "BS fees" doesn't mean the dealer will remove them. It just means they are part of the price when comparing deals - dealers may prefer to lower the price they are offering while keeping the BS fees depending on how their compensation and hold backs are calculated.

If evaluating a So Cal purchase assume total driving costs of around $0.50 per mile. It ain't just gas, it is wear on tires, vehicle depreciation etc. And determine if you value your time as well. Might not be worth it for a few hundred dollars but probably worth it when you get close to a thousand dollars.

OP: You live in San Hoser, the internet capitol of the word pretty much? How many do the folks wanting an awesome Tacoma make per year? I'm sure your prices are inflated due to the market.

I'd do an internet pricing off Edmunds, or Consumer reports etcusing a cheaper zip code. I have bought a few vehicles that way. No hassle. A couple emails, make sure they include ALL costs. You'll pay less. Get away from the 75k income by the thousands young guys zip code and you will save.

BTW, what is a one bedroom efficiency apartment rent for these days? In Las Vegas it's under $800, I bet it's $1300 there.

The people saying 27k out the door also either had special discounts, or little to no taxes. In California, TTL runs a few thousand. So that would mean a double cab TRD for under 25k to be out the door for 27k, which would be about 20% off sticker...almost impossible.

In my area they have a 2011 DCLB pre runner with 20k on it, and they are selling it for 27k.
