They're a versatile, essential tool IMO for offroading. I've put thousands of hours on aftermarket inverters since 1998. And only used two, a Craftsman 425W MSW and a Samlex 600W PSW. They're durable, dirt cheap, easy to install and in the case of the TRD OR come with the factory package.

Plug a multiport AC adaptor into the single plug on the truck and you can simultaneously charge every battery you own from AAA's to powerpacks. That's good living offroad. Everybody is amazingly happy when they have electricity. :)

OK, maybe that's why Gabby Hayes was a sour old goat!

So tell me, (thousands of hours), with the 400 watts maximum, how do some of these guys claim to run crock pots and slow cookers and coffee pots and steam shovels? That's why I thought it's useless.

I use it to power a 1/2 hp air compressor to air up the tires after wheeling.

It can run a bunch of things at the same time. Pay attention to amp draw at startup and plan accordingly. I've run a number of things off of it at the same time.

Earlier this winter the power went out, and stayed out for the next 40 hours. I have two Monitor heaters that heat each side of my duplex. They require electricity for the fan and electronics. So I hooked up an extension cord from the truck and heated my house.

Everything but the steam shovel is less than 400W. A crockpot is maybe 300W, small coffee pot maybe 350W, a blender maybe 350W.

Me and a buddy used ours to run 1/2" hammer drills (one off each truck) so we could drill the frame holes and install rock sliders on his truck. Quite possibly the only rock slider trail install thats been done.

Nobody knows how to make coffee without electricity anymore? Best thing about camping is making coffee using something other than an electric dripper. French press? perculator? or even a basic pour over? I've even boiled the grinds when we lost the percolator internals and just scooped out the grinds when they float to the top.

Love french pressed and percolated coffee but, this isnt the french press coffee thread. Not to mention if I have access to electricity or a flashlight, I probably wont be walking around with a candle.

Ehh... I would personally be a little leery of soldering on the truck when it was running.

    Good one!

    What amp?

Does the truck run while using the amp, if not, how long will the battery last?

I have a Fender Super Reverb...
