My first guess would be the previous owner had CB/HAM/scanner antennas mounted up there.

 

That's what I was thinking also, which would explain the random holes in the dash.

 

Yep. My CB is velcrod onto my center console because I hate drilling into my interior haha

 

Well my ARB dual compressor came today and its a bit bigger than I had thought.. Won't fit anywhere in the engine bay without moving something, I have yet to look under the truck. Anywhere else can anyone think I could mount it? My only possibility right now is the underside of one of the cubby's in the bed just have to drill through it.

 

There's enough people on here running arb lockers so there's gotta be some pictures of good places... Check with spoonman

 

Hmm good idea. I know MrGrimm has his behind the rear seat but I just don't like that location. May have to though

 

I have the smaller guy (single arb compressor). I know most people mount them in the hood just for ease. I am sure you can do it in the bed and thats where i am sort of wanting to do mine but seems like it usually involves making brackets of some sort at least

 

I just signed up for the NW Overland rally in June. Anyone else going?

 

The ARB twin is a great compressor. A little loud but very fast. I have mine mounted under the hood.

Do you plan to add an air tank to run tools at some point?

I'm hoping to mount mine and a tank in the spare tire space. I can't fit a 37" spare under there anyway, so maybe that would be a good use of that space.

There is no way to fit it under the hood unless I move the battery or something. I may add a tank later on in the future but not right now.

And Mike I want to keep my spare until I get a rear HC with swingout then ill take it out.

 

There's a big long thread dedicated to compressors. One guy found a spot between the bedside and the bed, just behind the rear tire. I know that 55chevy05taco used to have one that I think he either mounted behind the seat, or removed the underseat plastic and mounted in a cubby.

 

Yeah I looked a bunch of places and tried both those but I decided im going to have Mule make me a nice mount and they will have a better idea.

 

Dammit Brian how much money have you given them already!?

 

They do such nice work i'd trust them with anything on my truck. They'll do a much better looking/cleaner install job than I could. It isn't long for them to do it anyway so it isn't that much. Personally I'd rather pay someone good to do it right the first time than fuck around with it and do a not so good job. Littler stuff I can do but I want this to turn out really well.
